Rate The Cup Race: Daytona II

7, not happy about the 48 penalty. that is something that looks like happens in nearly every race

I give it a 7. The racing was great at times, but Stenhouse was like the plague tonight. Congrats to Eric Jones, getting his first win in Cup, and Kasey Kahne for surviving and getting his first top 5 of the year with his new team.

Despite popular opinion on last night's race I enjoyed it. Yes it sucked seeing more than half the field wrecked but the racing was good. Always love a first time winner too.

7

5. Based on the fact none of the drivers went to the hospital. And, the winners car looked like it had just won at North Wilkesboro.

1.20...I used to enjoy watching plate races. There was a time when the big one didn't even happen. Last night was the worse plate race and maybe NASCAR race I have ever seen .
Great to see Eric Jones win though.

Would have been a 9 if Kahne won. Other than that, I have to give it a 7.5 for the sheer entertainment factor. It was hardly "RACING" though.

PS- Is Ricky a little "frustrated" now that he's without Danica? That guy needs a talking to.

If I was rating the race on the last 3 laps I would have given it a 9.5. The racing and moves done by Kahne, Truex Jr., AJ, and Jones were fantastic. Rating the whole race - 7. The yellow laps and commercials during the clean-up time go on and on.

I watched this morning at 7am off my DVR, best way to see it on TV. well anyway,

I give it an 8.

Jones last lap move to the outside for the win = 100!!!!

WTH is up with Stenhouse? geeeezzzz.

Clearly a violation, pretty cut and dry.

Maybe I’m imagining things but I thought the fueler chasing the car out of the pit box was pretty common. First time I’ve ever seen that called. Might be wrong.

On second thought he was stopped way deep in the box so not really much room for the fueler to chase the car without it being overt

The race showed the bad side of plate racing. I thought a tow truck had a chance to win it. Plate racing is different and it requires drivers to drive in close formation most of the time and mistakes happen. But Stenhouse was way too aggressive and I hope drivers talk to him about it (face to face). I wonder how much it costs teams to wreck a car; it has to be more expensive to run plate races. On the good side, I'm always happy to see a first time winner.

I haven't watched a race live in years. I PVR it and start watching about 1 1/2 hrs in. Here in Canada, we get the same commercials over and over again for the whole race. Plate races are watched on fast speed for the most part.

8...would have rather had Kahne win....but...did not like 75% of the field taken out either.

That wasn't a race. NASCAR should just go all the way and transform Daytona into a figure 8 track.

I give it an 8 because there was actually some passing for the lead except for the first stage.

You guys need to understand you’re in the minority mostly. That’s the sports biggest problem IMO. On this forum you’d think last night was an awful race and that Daytona is an embarrassment, yet on Jeff Gluck’s twitter poll it was 76/24 in favor of the racing which is quite high.

People want close racing and bumping and banging, there may have been a few too many wrecks but people want to see on the whole the type of racing presented at plate tracks

I’ll give it a 6 because most of the big guns were taken out far too early because of one guy

You have the larger Nascar Nation world voting and you have the Racing Forum world voting..sometimes it can get a bit bizzare. The 600 by RF was one of the highest rated races while the rest of Nascar nation rated it as one of the lowest..Sometimes it goes that way. BTW the Dega race was rated 48/51 no in the larger survey.

Yeah Dega needed a little more grip in those cars

9. Mainly because the Big Three didnt win. Stenhouse screwed up but at least he accepted responsibility and seemed remorseful.

3 for the race

8 for 1st time winner

10 for crowd’s loudest cheer of the night when Stenhouse wrecked.
