Thoughts on Uncle Harv

Exactly. In racing it's 'be talented OR bring money.' In other sports, there is only option 1. I don't think anyone here will tell me that Danica, Menard, and other ride-buyers are among America's 40 best stock car drivers.

Non of this is rocket science so IDK what on earth the issue is. If I wave money under Robert Kraft and Bill Belechek's nose and say I want to play for the Patriots they will laugh me out of taxachusetts. If I approach Tommy Baldwin or a low level charter team and wave a bunch of money under his nose my driver is in next week's race. Simple as that.

The alternative is failing to understand the obvious lol.

There it is...the change occured

Stewart-Haas Racing driver Kevin Harvick will have two new members going over the wall this weekend when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to Richmond for Saturday night's Federated Auto Parts 400 (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

Eric Maycroft will be the team's new front tire changer and Matt Holzbaur the new front tire carrier for the No. 4 team. They previously worked on the No. 10 team ofDanica Patrick.

Maycroft replaces front tire changer Tim Sheets while Holzbaur replaces front tire carrier Todd Drakulich, both of whom will move to the No. 10 team.

Brendan Gaughan is not in Cup. Brian Scott is likely a one-and-done with a small, underfunded team facing a serious revenue shortfall. @29-4 you are trying to make the case that Nascar is being taken over by no-talent spoiled rich guys but that case does not stand up to scrutiny.

A friend of mine's son is a good motocross rider with some sponsorships and wins throughout the country. By all accounts the kid is good and has potential but that potential will never be realized. The next step for the kid is to race early and often but that would require my friend to quit his job and travel the country with his son and that is not feasible.

Tom Logano could afford to do that for JLo while others like the Burton and Sadler brothers and Brian Vickers had resources that others didn't when starting out. Over the course of time drivers like Betty Crocker, Steven Wallace, John Wes Townley, Paul Menard and the Dillon boys either had or have their rides based upon attributes other than skill. Throw in others like Michael Waltrip, Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace and you could make a case that while having talent is great it ain't always everything. Danica Patrick is a hybrid as I don't think anyone would argue that a more skilled driver could be found to pilot the 10 car but her participation in Nascar is not about race results.

Childers and Harv are just lucky that NASCAR doesn't have a trade deadline like every other sport or he would be royally screwed. If he can survive to the 3rd round he's a lock to get to Homestead thanks to the Kevin Harvick 500.

Auto racing is unlike other sports in many ways. Mercifully.

Betty Crocker drove a race car?

LOL, sorry Skoal, I know you meant Erin Crocker. I'm just pickin on you today

Actually I did know it was Erin but I always referred to her as Betty as I thought it sounded better.

makes my blood boil. Should DPs too
She should be mad. But I'll bet she's smart enough to know you gotta support the #4 because THEY are in the Chase.

She'll put some aloe on the burn for the greater good, another SHR Championship run.

She should always be referred to by her media-given knick-kname - Erin "The Real Deal" Crocker.

good post. happens in every team where one team member is in the chase the other not

They changed the front wheel boys?? I thought the problem last week was the rear wheel guys.

The rear tire changer had a bad air gun ... forward/reverse valve failure. The front tire guys caused the other slow stops.

Maybe the swap is intended to get everybody's attention.
