Cup RACE thread --- Daytona

I didn't find it on Sling among the 25 Fox Channels? Got my antenna tuned well enough.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to live in a market where FOX itself owns the local FOX station.

If you live in a market where a different company owns your local FOX affiliate, you won't get FOX on Sling.

Good one Josh Berry.

That's what we like 9 to the front!

Somehow when actor Joel McHale was announcing the starting grid, he said "Kyle Larson...2022 Cup Series Champion". Oops.

“They’re showing the Rock again I’m done watching NASCAR!” -someone somewhere probably
Rock’s response

This race has strange vibes written all over it
Very. I can’t remember a fuel mileage race this early in a stage and as well as pit strategy playing a role this early in a race. Odd.

Gonna be a very competitive battle for the free pass if the rest of the field can make it to the stage end.

I think personally we need more wrestlers, at least to do commands. They know how to work a crowd and a microphone, so they would do a better job than most of the people they get
I understand that. But it's a bad look imo. Further away they stay the better.

Unfortunately, general sports fans often reference the WWE in a derogatory way when criticizing the coverage, charades, rules and officiating of their sports, such as the NFL, or the NBA. When fans reference those sports being "WWE - like ", it's not a good thing.

Any association NASCAR has with the WWE or it's stars illegitimizes it in the eyes of casual sports fans imo and is not the way to go if you want to bring in new sports fans. And I kind of agree tbh.

Look what Taylor Swift did for the NFL, we need anybody we can get.
Taylor Swift is a Grammy winning world class superstar, household name, and has a massive following.

I agree in general, and the Rock being more Hollywood than WWE is nice, but I don't agree that we need WWE people. Its the wrong type of star.

WWE routinely has the highest ratings on cable and draws thousands of people to live events on a weekly basis.

And most importantly, it’s a scripted television show that is no more legitimate or illegitimate than the latest episode of CSI.

I don’t agree with this at all. Both fan bases are kind of in the same side of the pool. I find it harmless to cross promote

The Rock at his peak was just as known and popular as Taylor Swift. He’s fallen out of the spotlight the last 8-10 years yes but he was in big movie after big movie for a while.

All those other fans can hush, since every single sports champion gets a WWE Championship. So every single one is associated with WWE in some way shape or form. Heck Travis Kelce was wearing a title at the parade haha. Every NFL team(expect the Jags, because their owner owns a wrestling company) has custom titles. The NBA Commissioner just had a photo with Snoop’s gold WWE title.

Not fussing at you by the way, just pointing out how none of them can say anything.

I know The Rock rose to fame in WWE, same with Cena, but I associate them with Hollywood.

The Rock is in a metric ton of family-friendly movies. And Cena was AWESOME in DC’s Peacemaker.

Until it actually moves the needle, and has an impact, I don't think it's the way to go if you're targeting general sports fans.

If it brings in wrestling fans, that's nice. But we want more than that

WWE is pretty mainstream these days. Anyone who looks down on wrestling fans is living in the past.
