Cup RACE thread --- Talladega

That was far from a racing deal, it was a completely reckless block by McDowell. He would've won that race if he throws a normal block instead.

He had Keselowski behind him as well, basically a teammate. Somehow, a winnable race slips out of Ford's hands.

Happy for Gragson, another solid run. Berry was right up there as well.

Berry jumped up to the top lane with like one lap left. Obviously he was trying to win, but he could have had a top 5 had he just stayed on the bottom behind Gragson. Not really his fault though, you can’t predict was gonna happen at the end of these.

There are a few trying. Nobody goes with anyone though.

Why would these 30th place cars rather finish 28th then try to go with other drivers and improve their track position?
They would rather push through blind. You had 5 or more trying to build on top, all it would have taken is 3 more BUT what you have to take into consideration is if forming requires you to leave a teammate, then they wont do it. That's what pisses me off. All goes back to those at track meetings with Ford, Toyota and GM sticking there fingers in the teams face and saying stick together or else. We have manufacturer orders, team orders not so much

Want to know what panzy azz Austin Dillon’s excuse is for laying back after the restart. There were too few laps remaining to try and stay “out of harms way”, so either he had a serious engine issue or he got palpitations and hid in the basement.

Guy seriously needs to quit…right now…and give that seat to a real driver.

The car looked like crap all race. Even when running behind Kyle it looked like he couldn’t pull up and push. RCR had a great run with Dale Sr., it doesn’t seem like they have top tier cars.

Yeah I figured he had speed in qualifying (as did Kyle) so surely, at a plate track where he’s had his only real success, he’d be able to finish decent absent wrecking. Nope. I had him in the pick ‘em contest for those reasons only and he crapped the bed. Junior is right…he needs to quit and move into the office for pop pop.

RCR has Hill and Love in Xfinity. Either one could run rings around Dillon.

I'll be watching to see how quickly Kyle Larson can race his way to the front from his 38th starting spot and how long Michael McDowell can keep it up front.
Well, it looks like KL was not very long and MM was right before the finish line. :)

It wasn't the finish I was hoping for but seeing Bowman surviving the carnage and ending up in the top 5, Byron in the top 10, Elliott in the top 15 and Larson in the top 20 is not bad for the lottery race. That moves the 48 team into the top 10 in points. They are going in the right direction anyway. Larson still leading the points and the 24 and 9 in the top 5, and the 48 in the top 10 in points is not a bad position to be in right now for HMS.

Both trimmed out. Never factors.

We had two pretty nasty wrecks this weekend, Allgaier & Jones. I hope they can keep going strong & not miss a race.

On the Erik Jones situation.....I always wonder exactly what they do in the infield care center. You always hear they were checked and released and it seems to be done very quickly no matter how hard a wreck the driver had.

Probably nothing immediately for back injuries that doesn't result in being paralyzed. If they think it is anything beyond just being strained then they would probably send him to the nearest hospital that can do an MRI. The MRI will tell them most everything that needs to done including surgery if necessary.

Disclaimer: I have no medical training so YMMV but I have had a few injuries through the years including the placement of titanium rods and other parts for back injuries.
The above is what I would expect.

Its a general wellness check along with looking for CTE symptoms. If the doctors have concerns they will transport them if not they are released

274 GADZILLION! Tyle Reddick baby....with the GOAT in the house. Special thanks to Ford! HELL YES!!!!!!
If they had thrown the caution when McDowell was sideways in front of the whole field and froze it like they should have done, Kez in a Ford would have won the race. But ya know Nascar. Got to keep the rice burners competitive.

If there was a manufacturer that NASCAR wanted to win at this very moment it would be Ford, not Toyota.

Just finished watching. That was boring as hell. 3/4 of the race was run at half throttle. 1/4 of the race they were actually racing. Garbage.

The sound, the joy AMAZING

I thought about this, if someone didn't know this was a race and just saw a bunch of people standing staring at something and then off in the distance you hear this roar and it gets louder and louder then all of a sudden everyone starts yelling and jumping around you would think the end of the world was near lol. Sorry, my mind works like this ;)

Load of crap. Like a yellow would prevent what happened behind Tyler....and 2.67 miles to get them slowed down.
