Toyota working on new Camry for 2015: Toyota will have a new face for 2015 - and we're not just talking about Carl Edwards. Long before the 2015 production Camry's coming out party at the New York Auto Show in April, Toyota Racing Development was hard at work to development a vehicle for competition in NASCAR's Sprint Cup division. In concert with Calty, Toyota's car design studio, the project has been in progress since fall of 2013. Toyota presented its' "first look" to NASCAR's Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C. earlier this month - which was returned for further development.
"We had a preliminary submission, but we have more work to do," [David Wilson, president and GM of Toyota Racing Development] said. "We've been working with NASCAR on the car. They give you the opportunity to see where you are and of course our objective is to get the most performance out of it as possible. We have to pass their submission criteria, so we're going to have another go at it and hope to have that put to bed in the middle August. Then we'll unveil it to the public and get ready for 2015."
Changes to the 2015 include a new front fascia, tail and character lines.(Motorsport)(7-31-2014)

Hopefully it'll be better than the 2014 Camry has been. ;)

Camry hasn't been the problem. Won a Toyota best 14 races last year. Teams are late to the party understanding the set up requirements of the new aero and 0 ride height package. For that matter, the horsepower bull**** is also the whipping boy for our teams who have been behind in figuring this out. All good now, and credit the hard work for keeping four of five TRD powered Toyotas in the hunt.

10 bucks and a ham sammich says Toyota will have an edge over everyone else next year, and everybody (including me) will complain about it lol.

**** it, I'll just buy you the ham sammy. No question. Nevermind that Toyota has the oldest engine design on the grid. TRD isn't going to submit a brick--that's for damn sure.

I like it that the manufacturers are busting their asses to make sure that the cars reflect the street cars at least in concept. In the COT days, this was a sticker set. Far more expensive and time consuming with the Gen 6. It's cool.

I love the technology and engineering behind the scenes work thats taking place. I just hope it doesnt get out of hand and the competitive gap increases between teams.

Completely agree on the tech stuff. I think NASCAR did a great job leveling the playing field with the Gen 6. It will be okay, but I do hope we get a little advantage. ;)

Is that why toyota is pushing the envelope right now? To try and get some advantage before they switch to their 2015 Camry?

Let's be clear. Toyota doesn't push stuff--it's teams do.....and no I don't think JGR or MWR push any harder than anybody else. They just got caught....pending appeal.

Moderator, please translate thread title to english.
You'd be more convincing if you would capitalize the word "English". Carry on. Good luck this weekend. :waver:

No they got caught. Period. They aren't appealing whether they actually cheated. They are appealing for less of a punishment.

....and this is the crap that drives me nuts. None of us know why they are appealing. None of us. Frankly, as I have posted several times before, I am shocked that they are appealing. Why is it so freakin' unthinkable to wait until all the facts are in? I've got posters who cite NASCAR rules as proof of what they allegedly did. I get what was "broken". How, when, and why are part of the appeals process. This is why they had the option of having Darian and Wes at the track until the appeal was over. That's what a freakin' appeal is....suspending judgment until due process runs its course.

The manufacturer should build & release a rear wheel drive turbo limited edition Camry, i'd trade one of vehicles in for that in a heartbeat...

It was a choice between that and mindlessly piling on.
