Ray Rice wins appeal, 'suspension vacated'

NEW YORK – The NFL players' union says Ray Rice has won his appeal of his indefinite suspension. An association spokesman says the suspension has been "vacated, effective immediately."

The appeal was heard earlier this month by a former federal judge. She was deciding whether the NFL overstepped its authority when it modified Rice's earlier two-game suspension. It was turned into an indefinite suspension after video became public showing the Baltimore Ravens running back punching a woman who was then his fiancee. She is now his wife.

I also blame the NFL for mishandling the case in the first place with him only being suspended for two games. There'd has been a lot of other cases that have come to light, but I sure as he'll he learns from this. I for one believe in second chances, but Goodell should really have had some sort of system in place and not trust reacted the way they did with the two-strike system. I for one HATE these cases, but Ray has been given a second chance and he should be fortunate that he is not in a jail cell.

I hate what occured, but hopefully this serves as a lesson. He's certainly guilty, but the ban would have been too much. The NFL wanted Rice to serve as an example and they definitely have. All men should NEVER put thier hands on a woman because it is wrong and the ultimate disrespect is shown. I'm glad this case is over with him, but as I've said I hope he learns from this. I have been quiet about this issue, but this one case is over. Someone will sign him, but it will not come without the drama.

I wish Rice and his wife the best as they are already married.

Holy hell have some ****** respect. He the ****** truth and he knew he did was wrong. Crazy as hell the man was wrong and he knew it. The issue is freaking absolved and is over with. I hope it sets an example for not just the NFL, but for all athletes and men alike.

I'm done to Damn childish to be a ****** man.

I show respect to people who deserve respect. That piece of garbage doesn't deserve respect. You put your hands on a woman and you're forever a worthless loser. He can get on his knees and beg forgiveness but I don't care. He's scum and anyone who forgives him has questionable morals at best.

In my opinion, looking at video of the fight, his wife actually started the snafu, and he was acting in self defense.
 
Hitting a woman is indefensible.
Goodell screwed up. He disciplined Rice with a 2 game suspension. Then came the uproar when more facts became known and when the chit he the fan he did a do-over to save his azz.

All I have say is that he's an example due to status and people worrying about the wrong things because so many people are worried with this and this might occur right under your nose in your neighborhood. For example, my next door neighbor had a similar ordeal... All I'm saying if it was not Rice or even something with Adrian Peterson, Kurt Busch, Stewart with his accident, Greg Hardy, etc.

Not saying anything similar, but it is because of who they are they are being made examples, but there are so many unreported cases, but that video proof and others who record make it oblivious. All I'm saying there are men, women, and children dealing and/or coping with domestic abuse.

Guys and gals, I always have a different perspective because of my soft-hearted nature because I like hearing and seeing evidence like anyone else, but if you want to flame me then fine. Call my morals questionable, fine it's the internet and I shared my opinion. Honestly, I could care less of what others think. Just think for a moment, that's all I'm saying. I have been very methodical with this post and @Stewart Fan, I apologize for yesterday.

Just the reason why my view is slightly different is that the man knew he was wrong, admitted he was wrong, and even said to Rodgers Godell he was wrong. He didn't lie or anything of the sorts. He's been in hiding because if his guilt and because it's his life and decision to marry the woman. I'm entitled and will stick with it and this is all I'm saying on the ordeal. If it wasn't Rice or any other professional or famous person, it would go on ignored without anyone noticing.

It is not the complicated. He only apologized because his idiocy cost him millions of dollars.

As you noted his status leads to the disproportionate attention. That will never change, It is what it is, something to profit from or as in this case be put under the microscope. However the story does have more merit than some of the other trival celebrity topics.

Any man that knocks a woman out is a douche bag, celebrity or not.
I wouldn't hire him for any job, without a lot of time to demonstrate a true change of character.
And I do think some incarceration was in order, he maliciously hurt someone.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I would also offer or find a shelter for anyone that is physically abused in my community. But it isn't like my neighbor wants me to survey their status or that I ever tracked Rice. I don't make it a habit to read TMZ, or follow tabloid journalism either.
I would be offended by any videos of anyone knocking their wife or girlfriend out in an elevator. It would not matter if it was a celebrity, associate or a neighbor.
 
The good news is that it doesn't look like he's getting interest from any teams. I hope nobody signs him.

That's only because he's viewed as a running back that is approaching his sell by date for a marquee RB. Nothing else.

He's almost 28. 29 to 30 is starting to be the new "old" for running backs in the league. His stats had already been sliding downward over the last couple seasons; he was barely mediocre in 2013.

Poor ol Ray, it is to bad that he was troubled enough to cry.

If only women deserving of a beating were able to receive it from such a compassionate hand.

I listened to the interview and also read the article.

I read and view this as nothing more than her supporting her 'meal ticket'. There is nothing that I can find that would be defensible in a man hitting a woman short of him defending his life in a life or death situation and this isn't that.

Seriously? Also from the article.....

As we were arguing, he was on his phone and not looking at me. I went to reach for his phone, and when he grabbed it back, he spit at me and I slapped him.

He spit at her? How effed up is that. That's something that you wouldn't even do to an animal. There's no excuse for this guy.
 
After reading Janelle's story and especially the way she mentioned that Ray cried while he was be traumatized, one thing became clear.
Ray deserves a better that woman that will not publicly shame him.

Obviously another beating is in order.
Hopefully the public will respect his privacy this time, with the same rights that any other regular Joe or citizen enjoys.

Free Ray! Stop his oppression.

I have to take what she says with a grain of salt. She knows that he is the meal ticket so for her she needs to keep him employed. What will count is what is said and done once his career is over. I have no doubt that he will get picked up by some team that needs him, and if he does good then fans will forget for the most part. Money and results on the field is what generally counts.
 
I doubt that under the circumstances there was a pre-nup and even if there was it had to of been a very generous one for her. After his career is over she'll probably divorce him and take the money and split.
