There hasn't been a race back to the checker in most of these new "overtime" scenarios. Yes ladies and gentlemen, another excellent move by NASCAR.

It doesn't matter how hard the damn hits were if they were 2/3 down the back straight then let 'em race back

Weren't their cars crashing hard into the outside wall as soon as the crash started? If not, I stand corrected, but I thought that's how it happened.

to be honest i dont even understand the overtime thing

isnt it the same as green white checkers?

No...

In Overtime, there is only 1 attempt as long as the race stays green until the field crosses the overtime line with 2 to go.

In green white checkers, there were up to 3 attempts at a green finish as long as the caution came out before the field took the white flag.

And if they dont reach they line, they get as many attempt's as it takes to get past the line.

"Overtime" itself is stupid.

The last 10 or so laps of any given race should not have caution laps count. If the caution comes out with 4 to go, clean it up and go green again with 4 still to go. It's not that complicated
It's not complicated, but it is dangerous. The new overtime rule exists mainly because of what happens at plate tracks, where multiple late restarts just increase the odds of people getting killed or seriously injured (including fans). Late restarts are dangerous everywhere, but IMO it is recent plate track experiences that convinced Nascar to agree to the new rule, which was proposed by the Drivers Council. Personally, I think it is a good compromise.

There should have been an immediate caution when that wreck started. There were a number of cars behind the wreck, and staying green meant they had to race through the accident scene at speed, racing for position. No bueno.

I don't blame NASCAR for throwing that caution. When some of the cars didn't roll away, they have to get the safety teams to the drivers. Seconds do count. Bubba Wallace took a hard hit. They can't send the safety team out under green, no matter what lap it is. They gave it a second to see if everyone drove away. If there was a mistake, that was it. They should have thrown it immediately.

The heck with finishing under green. Nascar won't even let them race under green, they must throw a caution for some reason just to show they can. That includes these competition cautions at lap 30 or so. If cars can race 30 laps let them run out the fuel run.
If there is a big accident with less than 10 to go that ends the race. More than 10 laps, throw the red and start with 10 laps "One Time Only".

The only result I have seen with a GWC is that the guy who raced to the front before the caution gets screwed for the win. All you need is one member of your team to cause a caution and then your team mates can gang up on the potential winner.

I agree completely! If NASCAR once to put on a "show" for the fans then screw this green/white/checker attempts or whatever they call it. Just never, ever let a race finish under caution. If the boys decide to wreck and spin out 20 times in the last two laps, then darn it race until they get their act together. Many other series races this way and this should end most of the controversy.
