Stewart-Haas Racing driver Tony Stewart crashed his car and flipped it five times while racing at a dirt track in Canada but he escaped without any injuries. "Tony Stewart is fine," Stewart-Haas Racing spokesman Mike Arning said. "He walked away from last night's incident unhurt and will race tonight in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series feature." Stewart is 11th in the Sprint Cup standings after finishing fourth in the Brickyard 400 last weekend.

Tony needs a girlfriend.

And that is in no way an insult.

These guys want to be racing 7 days a week. Nothing wrong with that but you need something more substantial than looking for your next race. Some sort of life outside of racing.

Tony needs to realize he has a team to run now and after he retires. Stay out of those damn sprint cars. I enjoy watching them race but they are far too dangerous to drive.

Can't be anymore dangerous than go-karts, Legend cars, U-CAR, Hornets, Street Stock or Mini-Stocks.

Tony's a racer. Period. The type of racer who desn't have, or want, a life outside of racing. I love how people try to say he should be crawling into a sprint car because of yada yada yada.

Can I fix that for you?

are you freaking serious?!?!? jason lefler was just killed in one, shane hmeil was damn near killed. go look at one up close some time and get back to me. your elbows and shoulders ARE NOT enclosed by the car but rather are wide open to the outside. there is no way I would drive one. there is no comparing a sprint car or midget to any stock car. I am somewhat surprised tony's sponsors haven't said dude stay out of the midgets and sprints. since the COT no one has really even been hurt that bad.

Tony is a true blooded racer. He'll race whenever and whatever he desires. Did anyone bitch like this when Jr burned himself up in that Corvette crash at Infineon? (Legit question). Tony had been at this for years, he knows the risk.

Let him do what he wants. He loves to race and it's not like he can do it at top level forever. He's having a blast doing what he loves and no one should tell grown man what to do with their life.

doesn't look that bad. Just some soft rolls. Probably could have started it back up and kept going, doesn't even look like it broke the steering linkages.

Up close this thing is a seat mounted on four wheels and one badass motor.

Life isn't about the destination but the journey bone rattling, raw horsepower and torque that gets us there...

The nice thing about winged springs, the wings make good shock absorbers. It's the midgets and unwinged sprints that people get hurt in all the time. There's nothing to absorb impact.

That's arguable. Lefler was in a winged sprint when he was killed. Brad Doty was left paralyzed after a crash in a winged sprint car at Eldora. Danny Smith broke his back a couple year ago at Attica in a winged sprint. I remember when Gary Patterson was killed in the early 80s at Calistoga there was kind of a big argument about putting wings on. Of course, one drawback to the wings is they tend to just make the cars go that much faster.

These drivers know 100% of the risk they are taking when racing. It's part of their passion for the sport. The tradgedys cannot be ignored, but it can't be the focus of the sport either. Race on

True. But they do absorb some shock. Not much, but some. I'd rather land on my lid and bounce off a bunch of wadded up sheet metal, than bounce right off the roll bar 4" above my head.

Smoke was going to have Kyle Busch fill in for him this week but everyone would be upset with Kyle taking prize money away from the regular tour drivers like Smoke.

I would love to see KB step out of his comfort zone and do something like that. In fact, I'd love to see him, rather than go to the Snowball Derby, take a crack at the Chili Bowl.

The Snowball Derby aint exactly kybu's comfort zone, caught cheating and kicked off the premises two years and kicked off another year for screaming at and berating the officials and the other years getting his ass handed to him on the track by the, according to him, untalented wannabe's. Makes me smile everytime I remember those races and watched them escort him and his entourage off of the premises.

Well, I see you point but....asphalt late model/full bodied stock cars are his comfort zone.

Dayum! Thats a hard lick. Like people have said, sprint cars are really dangerous and if Tony knows whats good for him he wouldnt go overboard with running them.

The point is not worth arguing mainly because I don't think he's comfortable anywhere but in the winners circle at a nationwide race.

@bobpockrass
Tony Stewart won't do sprint-car races this wknd b/c damage from Mon night. Said attention to flip was annoying b/c typical sprint-car flip

Stewart flipped his Sprint Car at Southern Iowa Speedway. He was taken to an ambulance on a stretcher after limping out of his car. He's being transported to a nearby hospital for observation. He is awake and alert.

I hope he's okay. This has been a brutal year for Sprint Car racing.

It's two weeks in a row. He usually races near me in Canadaigua when cup is in Watkins. He was there two weeks ago and caused a multi car wreck, sending two drivers to the hospital.

I wonder how much you can tempt fate before it bites you right in the ass.

Tony, my man..quit it.

And that's all she wrote.

I just think its funny when I read people's post saying he should race all he wants, well yeah ok but is it worth it when you get injured? Specially when you get injured in a series that you dont even race at full time?

For all intent and purposes, Tony is done for the year.
