With the news of Speed changing to Fox sports, and the fact that ARCA is announcing it at an unusual time. I'm guessing they are switching channels. My guess would be MavTV/American Real TV. I would hope ARCA can do better than that, but i doubt it.

I think NBC Sports Network or CBS' cable sports channel is more likely.

That would be nice, but considering nobody cares about ARCA who knows if they can do that good. Hopefully the will get their race schedule out earlier this year. If i remember right, they were a little later than usual releasing the 2012 schedule

ARCA pays to be on the air, and the races at Daytona and Talladega are too attractive. CBS and NBC aren't going to turn away the money. ESPN and FOX will because they have enough going on.

I don't think they released last year's schedule until the day before the banquet.

Hopefully they do get on a good network with better coverage of more races. Day before the banquet sounds about right, usually they release it a lot sooner, hopefully they can this year.

Tomorrow is the season finale. They could be making the announcement because of that. Still, FOX hasn't made the formal announcement that SPEED is done (even though we all know it is as of next summer) so it's strange.

It will be interesting to see what happens anyway. The race will too, i'm not able to make it out there, Frank is a good guy, i hope he can pull off a miracle and get the Championship tomorrow.

I probably won't be able to see the race tomorrow night. Saturday and Sunday are busy days for me at Martinsville.

Tim Clagg knows what it is, but won't say other than "it is good news".

This is from an interview with Ron Dragger from SBNation:

NRR: You guys have a great product for television. So why aren't more races televised?

RD: We will negotiate the best deal we can for the tour and our most-willing partner has been SPEED. It's a partnership where they've agreed to do 10 races and we look at that as a glass half-full scenario. On the flip side, that leaves 10 races without television and that's the glass half-empty. This is especially true when there's a percentage of our fans that would rather see the other 10 tracks televised instead.

SPEED is already at the current venues and there's a bottom line to everything. The cost of production lends itself better to the races where a production staff and cameras are already set up. We're appreciative that they air Toledo and IRP and we would love it if you drive up to Salem if you're in the area this weekend.

NRR: Is the Speed deal exclusive? If another willing television partner would come along and offer to pick up the other 10 races, would ARCA be in a position to listen?

RD: It's not exclusive and we would choose to take their offer to SPEED first and see if they would be willing to match. But we have to be careful in that position because of the high level of production SPEED provides to everything they do -- on-boards cameras, timing flicker, etc.

That interview was from September so it might have no meaning now. Sometimes ARCA has no idea whats even going on with their own upcoming events(Cayuga..), so i doubt Drager had any idea of changes happening with Speed channel at the time of the interview.

It's a non announcement. ARCA remains on SPEED, current TV deal extended.

Except, we all know SPEED is gone next year so the questions remain unanswered.

Also, FOX Sports Media Group says ratings for the ARCA Racing Series have spiked 24% in 2012.

yeah great news for the series. 10 races broadcast only from Sprint Cup Venues, just like always.

Wow. What was up with these cars getting airborne tonight @ Kansas?
Thank goodness Chad Boat was able to walk away from his wreck and for him, that the backstretch is paved. Met his dad Billy at Manzy once and asked him whether he was going to steer his son towards Indy or NASCAR. He told me NASCAR. I'll be rooting for this hometown boy, for sure.
