Looking through my guide... "Starting May 1 SPEED Channel will no longer be avail."

Called Bell... they went out of business and only stayed in Canada longer than the US because they had to run out the contract.

The guy said it's supposed to be replaced but couldn't say when or by who or whether they would even have NASCAR.

Time for this guy to get satellite.
 
What is the name of the satellite company that is available up there? Do you have more than one option for a satellite provider?

Dish Network? Interesting. I didn't know they install up there. If new installs there are anything like here they'll give you the world to sign with them. Get the whole home DVR setup. You will not be sorry.

Im not 100%... I have until May lol I just now my uncle used to pirate dish network. So there must be some way to pay for it lol I may be wrong
 
There are two Canadian dish providers . Shaw and Bell. Neither is affiliated with the American dish providers . American dish providers will not sell to a Canadian address or phone number , nor will the Canadians knowingly sell to American addresses . Snowbirds have the option of getting around the rules by using their address in the other country but will get cut off if they are found out.

Back in the late 80's through the mid 90's I had a BUD, (Big Ugly Dish). It was 10' in diameter. No HD back then but that thing was sweet. That was before they scrambled everything. I could pick up sporting events that were being beamed back to the network facility. Commercial free. While the announcers didn't announce during the commercial segments the video feed was still there. That was not just for NASCAR. It was for all the major sports. I don't know if that's still possible today or not. I've since switched to the small dish like most everyone else has.

I recall one of the cameras following a Nascar announcer into the washroom during one of those 'backhaul' feeds .

I don't know that FS1 is available in Canada.

It is possible to get Dish Network in Canada but I'm not going to mention how on here.
 
The guy from Bell said something is replacing them...

In the forum in the link in the OP they said that there is no way FS1 will ever come to Canada bc of TSN and Sportsnet... they don't want to give up the monopoly or something like that.




Sooooo who's got Dish Network and wants to be my new best friend in a couple months? May not be the best thing to talk about on here but there are ways around that ;)
 
I know my uncle was able to get the super bowl on the American channel through this weird little antenna thing made from a piece of wood and coat hangers... I may have to come up with a couple McGuyverisms

Either way.. I have until may 1... and the guy said it'll be replaced.... plus I would still get all the cup and nns races. Im big on watching practice and qualifying though.
 
It is illegal to have the American networks here in Canada. Not that it matters to me. Our good old CRTC who makes sure Canadian content laws are enforced and nobody says a bad word wont allow it. These are the same morons who last week declared there was not enough Canadian content in PORN!!!! In these times with the internet I think we could do without them holding our hands.

According to the people at Rogers cable who I talked with fox sports is not allowed in Canada either. Sure makes a boring weekend

Yes but in most towns now the kids cannot even play hockey out on the street due to by-laws!!

My teams goalie is the Jeff Gordon of the NHL........I also root for the Sens
 
I generally root only for the leafs.. and against all the teams in their division lol so occasionally for some of the other teams but only on a game to game basis
