The Chase is finally here! The Sprint Cup Series Chase has been decided and the first of 3 races in Round 1 is this Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway. The Xfinity and Truck Series have their regular season finales this weekend as well on Saturday and Friday, respectively.
PLEASE NOTE: You still play whether or not you are in the Chase! Just like in real NASCAR, there isn't just 16 people in the race!! All returning competitors in 2017 may begin re-registering this week! Make sure you know what name and number you want to use from here on out in the league. You may change during offseasons. Select your name, number, color scheme, and manufacture (Chevy, Ford, Toyota). At the moment, choose the number(s) you prefer the most whether it is what you already have or not. I will work out number conflicts at a later date. Don't worry what anyone else wants, just tell me what number(s) you want.
We also have the 3rd Quarter Report to come next week!! So keep an eye out for that. It will be far shorter than the last several ones due to the cancellation of most weekly awards.
Petr Smetana (#43) is about to be inactive in the Xfinity Series and Dodge is about to be inactive in the Truck Series.
I will be attending all Chicagoland Speedway events from Thursday-Sunday (or longer, weather pending, but only threat of rain seems to be Friday night so that's a plus! We've been plagued with September rain over the years since we got the Chase date).
PLEASE NOTE: Because of where I will be, there will unfortunately be no updates for the first Chase race for Cup and the deciding Chase races for the other two series. HOWEVER, follow us on Twitter @RRFantasyNASCAR and I will be attempting to live tweet the on-track action! (Attempting as in, should my phone battery hold up and if the service allows, but I should be ok!)

Keep in mind, if you miss a race, you are unable to lock yourself into the next round with a win.
Let's take a quick tour of who is in our 2016 Chase for the Sprint Cup...
Petr Smetana (#43) won the races at Atlanta and Phoenix to claim his spot in the Chase. He has started all 26 races with an average finish of 14.62. His 7 Top-5's, 12 Top-10's, and 18 Top-20's each rank 2nd.

Smokegirl14 (#14) was running well in points all year and got both of her victories as the regular season winded down at the August Pocono race and the Southern 500. She leads all players with 8 Top-5's and is tied for 3rd with 9 Top-10's. She is also tied for 2nd with 18 Top-20 finishes. Her average finish is 16.62.

David (#97) is the only multi-time winner that spread his wins out more than 5 races apart. He locked himself in the Chase with wins in the Spring Richmond race and the Coke-Zero 400. He only has 3 other Top-10 finishes (1 Top-5), and has a total of 13 Top-20 finishes. His average finish is 19.68.

@DanicaFreak (#7) was the first to claim a spot in the Chase by winning the Daytona 500 and backed it up with a win at Auto Club. He has 4 Top-5's, 6 Top-10's, and 11 Top-20 finishes. His average finish of 21.5 is worst among those with more than one win.

Kitkat8 (#8) won at New Hampshire to make her way to the Chase. She is tied for 4th with 9 Top-10 finishes and has a total of 14 Top-20's, 5 of which were Top-5's. She has an average finish of 18.42.

Mile501 (#21) won the Brickyard 400 and has an average finish of 19.35. In 2016, he has a total of 3 Top-5's, 6 Top-10's and 16 Top-20's.

Oldschoolracing519 (#18) won the August Michigan race in what will probably be remembered as one of the strongest performances in league history. He has only two other Top-5 finishes, but has 7 total Top-10's and 13 Top-20's. He has an average finish of 19.68.

@Conner (#98) found victory lane at the June Pocono race. 6 of his 7 Top-10 finishes were in the Top-5. He has 12 Top-20's total with an average finish of 19.5.

MJM (#84) was able to bank on Tony Stewart's Sonoma win with a win of his own. He has 6 Top-5's and 7 Top-10's in 12 Top-20 finishes. He has finished on average 21.31.

Numbah10hatah (#38) won the early Michigan race in the season in one of his 3 Top-5 finishes. He has had a total of 6 Top-10's and 12 Top-20's but has an average finish of 21.88.

Joey2448 (#6) had one the biggest feel-good wins of the year at Kentucky. He may have had only one other Top-5 finish and 6 Top-10's and 14 Top-20's, but his consistency shows in his 18.38 average finish.

@ToyYoda (#90) waited until the last possible moment to get into the Chase with his clutch win at Richmond last week. It was his 5th Top-5, 3 of which were runner-up finishes, most of any Chaser (Jolly Mean Giant (#67) also has 3). He is 3rd with 10 Top-10's and has 15 Top-20's. His average finish is a strong 16.91.

Slicedbread96 (#96) won at Kansas but has only had 3 other Top-10 finishes. She has a total of 3 Top-5's and 11 Top-20's. Her average finish of 22.77 is worst among the Chasers.

Nascarnana (#60) won at Dover, but was in an uncomfortable spot at Richmond. She finished 4th and beat the Bristol Night Race winner Nascarman (#81), who finished 8th, by 3 points in order to make the Chase. She has 5 Top-5's, 7 Top-10's, and 11 Top-20's with an average finish of 20.92.

Jakub Smetana (#42) would have made the Chase as the overall point leader if we didn't make the Dash4Champs award Chase berths. He finished 4th at Sonoma to qualify for the Daytona bonus. He won it with a 7th place bonus, and won his 2nd bonus with a 3rd place performance at Indianapolis. He leads the league with a 13.58 average finish, and he leads all players with 14 Top-10's and 20 Top-20's. He only has 4 Top-5's, however, and 0 wins.

Showtime (#44) also took advantage of the Dash4Champs Chase opportunity. He finished 3rd at Las Vegas to qualify for the first bonus at Richmond. He won it by finishing 5th, and won the 2nd bonus at Sonoma with a 13th place finish. Vegas and Richmond were his only Top-5 finishes this year, but he has had 6 Top-10's total and 15 Top-20's. He has an average finish of 16.96.

Petr Smetana (#43) won the races at Atlanta and Phoenix to claim his spot in the Chase. He has started all 26 races with an average finish of 14.62. His 7 Top-5's, 12 Top-10's, and 18 Top-20's each rank 2nd.

Smokegirl14 (#14) was running well in points all year and got both of her victories as the regular season winded down at the August Pocono race and the Southern 500. She leads all players with 8 Top-5's and is tied for 3rd with 9 Top-10's. She is also tied for 2nd with 18 Top-20 finishes. Her average finish is 16.62.

David (#97) is the only multi-time winner that spread his wins out more than 5 races apart. He locked himself in the Chase with wins in the Spring Richmond race and the Coke-Zero 400. He only has 3 other Top-10 finishes (1 Top-5), and has a total of 13 Top-20 finishes. His average finish is 19.68.

@DanicaFreak (#7) was the first to claim a spot in the Chase by winning the Daytona 500 and backed it up with a win at Auto Club. He has 4 Top-5's, 6 Top-10's, and 11 Top-20 finishes. His average finish of 21.5 is worst among those with more than one win.

Kitkat8 (#8) won at New Hampshire to make her way to the Chase. She is tied for 4th with 9 Top-10 finishes and has a total of 14 Top-20's, 5 of which were Top-5's. She has an average finish of 18.42.

Mile501 (#21) won the Brickyard 400 and has an average finish of 19.35. In 2016, he has a total of 3 Top-5's, 6 Top-10's and 16 Top-20's.

Oldschoolracing519 (#18) won the August Michigan race in what will probably be remembered as one of the strongest performances in league history. He has only two other Top-5 finishes, but has 7 total Top-10's and 13 Top-20's. He has an average finish of 19.68.

@Conner (#98) found victory lane at the June Pocono race. 6 of his 7 Top-10 finishes were in the Top-5. He has 12 Top-20's total with an average finish of 19.5.

MJM (#84) was able to bank on Tony Stewart's Sonoma win with a win of his own. He has 6 Top-5's and 7 Top-10's in 12 Top-20 finishes. He has finished on average 21.31.

Numbah10hatah (#38) won the early Michigan race in the season in one of his 3 Top-5 finishes. He has had a total of 6 Top-10's and 12 Top-20's but has an average finish of 21.88.

Joey2448 (#6) had one the biggest feel-good wins of the year at Kentucky. He may have had only one other Top-5 finish and 6 Top-10's and 14 Top-20's, but his consistency shows in his 18.38 average finish.

@ToyYoda (#90) waited until the last possible moment to get into the Chase with his clutch win at Richmond last week. It was his 5th Top-5, 3 of which were runner-up finishes, most of any Chaser (Jolly Mean Giant (#67) also has 3). He is 3rd with 10 Top-10's and has 15 Top-20's. His average finish is a strong 16.91.

Slicedbread96 (#96) won at Kansas but has only had 3 other Top-10 finishes. She has a total of 3 Top-5's and 11 Top-20's. Her average finish of 22.77 is worst among the Chasers.

Nascarnana (#60) won at Dover, but was in an uncomfortable spot at Richmond. She finished 4th and beat the Bristol Night Race winner Nascarman (#81), who finished 8th, by 3 points in order to make the Chase. She has 5 Top-5's, 7 Top-10's, and 11 Top-20's with an average finish of 20.92.

Jakub Smetana (#42) would have made the Chase as the overall point leader if we didn't make the Dash4Champs award Chase berths. He finished 4th at Sonoma to qualify for the Daytona bonus. He won it with a 7th place bonus, and won his 2nd bonus with a 3rd place performance at Indianapolis. He leads the league with a 13.58 average finish, and he leads all players with 14 Top-10's and 20 Top-20's. He only has 4 Top-5's, however, and 0 wins.

Showtime (#44) also took advantage of the Dash4Champs Chase opportunity. He finished 3rd at Las Vegas to qualify for the first bonus at Richmond. He won it by finishing 5th, and won the 2nd bonus at Sonoma with a 13th place finish. Vegas and Richmond were his only Top-5 finishes this year, but he has had 6 Top-10's total and 15 Top-20's. He has an average finish of 16.96.
