Just heard about it. Any thoughts?

I don't see anything official but the rumors are getting louder and louder. Biggest question for Dodge and Andretti is motor program. Think it'd be great to see Andretti in Cup and and Dodge build a program for 2013. I see Kurt in the #39 for SHR though.

Can you post a link to one of these rumors other than the 'I heard this' @ Jayski?

Last "I Heard" the Andretti team was just a rumor!

That would be cool. I watched a race there a couple weeks ago ran on the full course. Big elevation change.

It won't happen just one of those rumors that gets kicked around every few years :( The Full Track is pretty darn cool! I attended a few races there one of the very few road courses I enjoy, Road Atlanta is another one that will make you pucker up.

I've been to the Glen numerous times back in the 80's and early 90's. I never ventured over to the boot section. I've only ever seen it on TV. I've never been to Road Atlanta.

The sport illustrated doesn't say anything about Kurt. Heck, Jayski doesn't even have anything to say anything other than 'I heard'. I guess if we add all of this up it sounds like a sure thing. ;)
I just started the thread because jayski has a good track record in the rumor mill dept and hell we need something else to argue about. :D

Somewhat of an update on this.....

Andretti says Cup in 2013 'highly unlikely': Michael Andretti says time is running out for his Indianapolis-based racing organization to join NASCAR for next season. The owner of Andretti Autosport said it's now "highly unlikely" that he'll be involved with the Sprint Cup Series in 2013. "We've got a couple of (sponsorship) deals working, but it's getting late," Andretti said following the first practice of the Edmonton Indy. "It's not dead yet, but it's highly unlikely." Andretti bought his IndyCar team in 2003, but the cost of participating in IndyCar is at least one-third of what it takes to be in Sprint Cup.

Also from Jayski.

Wouldn't it be a rip if Kurt replaced Matt at RFR? I think the 7 plagues come first, but it could be fun to watch Kurt make Jacks eye pop out week after week.

What kind of rinky dink operation is Dodge running anyway ? Every week we get a tidbit of meaningless info about a possible program for next year . Time has run out on 2013 , it's time they look at 2014 , and put some real effort into a meaningful plan.

I doubt Dodge will have a presence in Cup next year. If they don't have anything significant lined up yet and haven't announced anything it would seem that they aren't making a huge effort to land any big teams.

You would think it wouldn't take too much to lure away a few marginal teams from the Chevy and Ford camps. If they get 5 or 6 teams signed on, why wouldn't Earnhardt jump in as THE engine supplier for Dodge teams? That's about all they do these days, and they can't be making much with RCR and Ganassi.

The strage part is Dodge wouldn't commit to more than 3 years to keep Penske. I doubt anyone makes the jump for anything less than 5 years.

I think the motors are actually built at RCR. That contract expires this year also. There's nobody I've seen with a motor program willing to switch and I think it's the biggest issue for them.

If the ECR deal expires this year, all they have left is EGR, right? Man, that organization is just a shell of what it was. I guess stepmom should have given Jr the 51% he demanded. His Daddy did build DEI for his son afterall. Perhaps Ganassi and RPM go to Dodge, along with DEI taking over the Penske engine program.

I'm still waiting for an announcement that Roush / Yates is willing to supply engines to Penske. If not, Dodge is truely screwed.

That surprises me, 1/3 of a cup program?

I haven't been paying much attention but has it been decided where Kenseth is going next year.

All signs point to Logano losing Home Depot sponsorship next year. Many assume that means Kenseth is taking over. I'm not convinced that's how it's going to happen.
