Prilosec OTC will sponsor two time Daytona 500 winner Sterling Marlin and the #40 NASCAR Cup team owned by Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. Beginning with the 2004 Nextel Cup season, Prilosec OTC will integrate its Associate sponsorship into a variety of marketing and promotional activities. “Frequent heartburn is a condition that affects many racing fans”, said Scott Mautz, Prilosec OTC Brand Manager. “This is a perfect way to reach those race fans and educate them about the first and only over-the-counter treatment for frequent heartburn.” The sponsorship will be highlighted by a unique one-race paint scheme each season that will transform the silver Coors Light Dodge into a purple Prilosec OTC racing machine. Throughout the Nextel Cup season, Prilosec OTC will also receive logo placement on Sterling Marlin’s firesuit and a logo position on the #40 Coors Light Dodge. Financial terms and length of sponsorship contract were not disclosed. In addition to its sponsorship of Sterling Marlin and the No. 40 team, Prilosec OTC unveiled its Prilosec OTC Racing logo and race day firesuit and helmet. The logo will serve as the brand’s identity within its racing related marketing efforts. The Prilosec OTC Racing logo will appear in a number of applications including apparel, merchandise and point-of-purchase materials. Sterling’s Prilosec OTC firesuit and helmet will also be seen on point-of-purchase materials.
