I'm not a long-time NASCAR follower, but how are the final standings determined when the race ends under caution? I thought the final position was determined by what position they were in the instant the caution came out. Watch this video and tell me why AJ was ruled ahead of Stenhouse and Harvick.

I think they revert to the last timimg line crossed when the caution light comes on.

Then, explain to me how AJ finished ahead of Harvick and Stenhouse. Stenhouse was sideways with AJ pushing him when the caution light came on.

The final order is supposed to be... Running order at the moment of the caution, providing the car continues on to cross the finish line. No passing after the moment of the yellow will count, except passing of cars that are stopped/unable to maintain reasonable pace lap speed to the finish line.

In the linked video, after the 12:20 mark, you can see that the 4, 17, and 47 all crossed the line. Just after 13:05 you can see these three cars sliding along the wall in that order, 4, then 17, then 47. So I think the OP has a very good question. Maybe the 4 and 17 were ruled to not be maintaining adequate speed after the crash to the finish line, and the 47 went by them???
