Random NASCAR Stuff to talk about.....

So this is adding to my shirt post , and a message I got from the seller, this is the second message, the first message she told me her husband is one of the pit crew members

I thought your account looked familiar :)

We aren't supposed to distribute team clothing and items to the public, but he gets a lot of things that so many people would like, and he gets new items at the start of the season, literally more than he can wear all season, we have unworn SHR stuff in boxes everywhere!

I have sent it out with a little gift included. :) This shirt he actually wore when they won in Pocono in June this year :) Hope you enjoy!!

Does Hooters still sponsor the southeast racing series? Does nascar still have the regional weekly tour?

I think Biffle just took the lead in best throwback schemes.

Where do the used tires go post race? Into recycled paper for NASCAR green?
NASCAR teams lease the tires from Goodyear, the tires go back to Goodyear and they take them and put icing on them and serve them as giant donuts.

In all seriousness, the teams really do lease the tires, after the race, the tires go back to Goodyear and they then recycle them into new tires.

Let's think about this for a minute, shall we?

Tires are made mostly from rubber.

Paper is made from mostly from plant fibers.

Do you see much overlap between the ingredients?

The answer to that question should answer your recycling question too.

With the Olympics over I'm looking forward to watching the race in a predictable place that actually matches the Guide from TWC.

Unless of course it rains...again...:owquitit:

Do the crews know if they are getting new or gently used tires before the racE?

As we (supposedly) learned earlier ...

Would you sign a lease if you didn't know in advance if you were getting new or used equipment?

Race teams wouldn't either.

When they want 'gently used' (called 'scuffed' in the trade), they run them for a few laps themselves. It's easy to turn new (or 'sticker') tires into scuffs, but impossible to turn scuffs into stickers. Hence, they always lease new.

Oh boy...but that IS summertime in the Mid-West. That's why I moved to the middle of the Pacific, we know the storms are coming a week before they get here.

Anyone watch Race Hub today?

Bootie Barker pointed out on the Kyle crash vid that the cause of Kyle's crash had nothing to do with a broken shock but was because the rear steer mechanism broke. He also said he believes JR is done as far as racing goes. Interesting stuff for sure.

Yeah, but where can you go? In the southeastern US, we can also see them coming a week out, but at least we have somewhere to run.

Is that aimed at me ?

He has a year left on his deal afaic. I'd guess that's what he means.

Jeez, I realize context is important, but Kasey seems to be giving himself a very long leash there... 2018. I think Kasey needs some new scenery to re-ignite his career. (I'm assuming he wants to re-ignite??).
That's when his current contract is up
