BOWLING GREEN, K.Y. (November 14, 2003) - Fruit of the Loom, Inc., owner of one of America's most recognized basic family apparel brands, announced today that it has teamed up with three-time NASCAR Winston Cup Series race winner Robby Gordon to compete in the NASCAR Busch Series in 2004.

Beginning with the season-opening Hershey's Kisses 300 at Daytona International Speedway on February 14, Gordon will drive the Fruit of the Loom-sponsored No. 55 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in 24 NASCAR Busch Series races. Robby Gordon Motorsports will own the entry and will operate from its new facility in Huntersville, N.C.

"We are very pleased to have this association with Robby Gordon, one of the most recognized personalities on the NASCAR circuit today," said John Shivel, vice president of advertising and communications for Fruit of the Loom. "Our goal is to reach out to NASCAR fans - the millions of families who make this the largest spectator sport in America - by supporting a superb competitor who also reflects the spirit and essence of Fruit of the Loom."

"I am very proud to have the support of an American icon like Fruit of the Loom," said Gordon. "With Team Gordon, I hope to take Fruit of the Loom to victory lane in their first season of racing."

Gordon has 141 NASCAR Winston Cup Series starts and has recorded three victories plus a victory at the 2003 Gatorade Twin 125's at Daytona. He scored two CART series victories in 106 career starts, has competed in nine Indianapolis 500's, is a six-time series champion of SCORE/HDRA Off-Road racing, has won four Rolex 24 hour at Daytona class victories and competes annually in the Baja 1000, winning the 1989 race in a solo drive.

Fruit of the Loom is a leading international, vertically integrated basic apparel company, emphasizing branded products for consumers of all ages. The company is one of the world's largest manufacturers and marketers of men's and boy's underwear, women's and girl's underwear, printable T-shirts, and fleece for the Activewear industry, Casualwear and Childrenswear. An independent, wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. (NYSE: BRK.A; BRK.B), the company sells it products principally under the FRUIT OF THE LOOM® and BVD® brands.

As a Robby Gordon fan Im very happy with this news. Robby's backfall was always his lack of stock car experience and lack of stock car terminology knowledge so the extra seat time should help his efforts greatly in the #31 car in 2004. :bounce:

I'm really glad to see that. Thanks for posting; nice article.
Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The question is...will he model his fruit of the looms when he gets to victory lane? :growl: :growl: :growl:

LOL You and the dragonlady will both be right there huh? LOL!!!!

This should really help Robby out quite a bit...you were dead on about his lack of experience in stock cars. I'm really stoked because Bowling Green, KY (F.O.T.L. HQ) is where I live, so maybe he'll come by to do some appearances or something.

Will there be any TV coverage at all? That Baja 1000 is a very grueling race and I wish them both well!
