The real championship thread

I designed a system on a website that let you play with the points that i can no longer find. I rigged it so Kasey always won.
I'm still waiting for the Earnhardt Jr. release.

Brian France: "We do things for the new generation. The reason why every 3 or 4 years we change the chase, is because we know the fans watching when the chase was good, aren't watching the sport no more. And every new generation is faster, and smarter. That's why 10 and 12-year olds are the backbone of this sport. So I guess if you don't like the new chase, it's because you just don't like the new generation."

Welcome to the forums Nathan.

You'll find we're a pretty divided group when it comes to the merits of the new Chase.

Welcome to the forum Nathan . You'll find Brian posting on here under the name Andy.

Welcome Nathan, this is a great site and you can discuss most anything on it. You will get a pat on the back sometimes, kudos and of course a kick in the
A$$, all from the same people. Just take it all in stride and never let them see you sweat. Don't forget, we're all bozos on this bus, me thinks it's the short bus.

Short bus... loooong ride! :D

1) Which means?.............. Nothin! :cool::p

2) Also.. ur wrong.. Joey has been the best driver since Indy... that like 13 races.. not just 5 since the chase.... has only finished outside the top 6 once since then. Including 3 wins... the one outside the top 6 was 14th at Atlanta when he got wrecked on the final restart.

1) That's why I hate this disgusting championship system.

2) Okay, I'll give you the past 13 races and assume that you are correct. Gordon is still the best overall driver so far this season. :)

He didn't say that.. Did he??

How are we even sure this is how the points would be? You can't tell me people don't play to the rules. Jr even himself has said this season they took chances they wouldn't have took without this system in place. Once some of these guys won they just had to play it to the rules and stay in the top 30. If you had a chance for another win take it, if not who cares you already had a win and was in the top 30, before you'd probably not take so many chances. By how they ran this season Jeff has got the most points yes, but would the season had gone the EXACT same way without the chase?

Don't see how that should start anything. I'm just pointing out the facts. I mean hell this point system above makes it seem as if my driver can win and I'm still saying that we're not sure this is how it would be. Depending on the system the drivers are going to run different.

So even without The Chase, Johnson would've still been mathematically eliminated.

Why don't we start acknowledging the driver/team that finishes the season with the most points? Regular season champion? Chase champion? IndyCar used to have oval and road course champions. That worked.

It looks like it would be a two-horse race between Gordon and Logano at this point. A lot of people hated that about the pre-chase days, but I actually kind of miss it getting down to two drivers duking it out at the end of the season.

BUT NOW WE HAVE FOUR DRIVERS DUKING IT OUT! :p

I'm not talking about the manufactured drama reset crap, I'm talking about seeing the best two drivers over the course of the season mixing it up over the last few races.

I personally liked the championship battle between Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart in 2010. :)
