Tony fired Grubb back at Charlotte

He needs to apologize, and give him a raise.
 
This may just be total speculation on my behalf...but for some reason I could see Grubb on the 48 box next season and Knaus on the 88....why Tony and Grubb would split, I have no idea...but I just having a feeling...maybe I am delusional! lol

I don't know man..but I have said for a LONG time I think the first year that they don't win Hendrick will do another "shake up" and move Chad over to the 88...

i think chad's next job at hms (or somewhere else) will be in management. he's shown he's a top notch cc. time to move up.

read exactly that on Jayski's site, however we all know that is just a rumor.
 
Tony Stewart says his main concern with Darian Grubb is "getting him drunk tonight." Won't address crew chief's status beyond that. .. Twitter..

Darians strategy won 3 of those 5 races. SHR still needs a director of competition, and I think Grubb will be offered that. He has a family, so it may be the better route for him.
 
Junior was going out of his way to praise Steve Letarte during the rain delay. Sounds like he'd rather have him than Knaus.

My guess is Grubb will be competition director for SHR.

I'll go ahead and start the rumor that Greg Zippadeli gets reunited with Stewart.
 
One hand I'd like to see Smoke and Greg Zippadeli again but on the other I don't want Tony to take a step backwards.
 
If Tony asks Grubb to stay on, I don't know if i'd trust Tony again.

I've asked around some of the media people I converse with on Twitter if Grubb was the dead weight. Each has said no. I'm still not so sure. Guess we'll never know the answer.
 
Man if Tony drops Grubb as his CC, then Tony wins the Bonehead of the Year for the 2011 season.
 
Tony 'rents' his development pit crew to the #78. I wonder if Tony shipped 1 or 2 over there and gave the development guys a shot.
 
Is anyone keeping count of the number of top crew chiefs rumored to be on the move?Seems to be at least six and maybe up to ten.

Grubb IS moving, for now and Gil Martin is gone. Rumors about Addington. Speculation about Ford and Zippy.

Who else did I miss, other than teams or drivers that are going away (5, 83, 4, 6, 00, 31).

I think Ford and Zippy are swapping spots. Ford is good with the up and coming kids and Zippy is good with the talent. Ford will make a better racer out of Logano and Zippy will rein in Hamlin.

I think the same thing, but Hamlin seems to want to hold onto Ford. In the end, he wont have a say about it. Does Logano have full sponsorship for next year?

I bet Jr. does want to keep Letarte, can you imagine how much more pressure he would have to perform with Knause as his cc? He is already in Nascars best equipment, pair that with the guy that many believe to be Nascars best cc...if you still can't win, there is even MORE reason to look in the mirror.

But back on the topic here, I really think that Stewart may attempt to hang on to Grubb now..I mean how many people fire the cc you just won the championship with?
 
To put this to bed, Stewart's dead weight comment was about the girlfriend and not Grubb. I had that info verified. Apparently with her and some other people hanging around every week, it became a distraction and he was trying to get some of them not to come around every week. She must have taken exception to that and they split.
 
I know tony is part owner but whats the chance that he didn't have all the say in this. I heard em say that this decision was made back in May. I imagine Haas or someone has some say in this as well. I'm one of the hopeful that zippy is trading in the orange for red finally. I don't think its a step backwards at all. Tony was going no where but up and had to rebuild again when he jumped over to the 14. Zippy is definitely talented he just needs the talent behind the wheel. JMO
