Good choice. I would like to see if the baiters will let us have a decent discussion in the open forum for a change.

When the leader of the country names Nascar in a Tweet about current events taking place in major sports, I think it's likely to open up some new dialogue - for better or worse.
 
As much as I think it's vitally important to have free and open news organizations, I think "stirring the pot" pretty much describes what's now going on.

It seems that they believe they've got a hot potato of sorts with this issue and they're going to keep it alive as long as possible by "investigating" every possible sporting event where the national anthem is played prior to the event.

Personally, I'm not interested if a Pop Warner youth football player takes a knee or not but somehow I think we're going to find out.

Reporters do have every right to ask. They also have the right to ask for Grandma's cookie recipe or what color the patio furniture is. That doesn't make them useful or appropriate. Flag / anthem questions displays the reporter's ignorance of the critical role of keeping the sponsor happy.

The president mistook a statement by NASCAR owners for a statement from the sanctioning body itself. I've heard many reporters make the same mistake in the last week.

How do you suppose the sponsor feels about drivers/France openly endorsing political candidates? People can't hike their skirts up and then complain that others looked.
 
Hopefully they will put a gag on Burton, he has convinced himself that he speaks for all of Nascar and the fan base

I for one appreciate the opportunity to discuss ideas in a civilized manner and also fully aware of how easily the balance can be tipped.
 
Agenda driven as ESPN has to have controversy to continue the story. You know every driver has had it drilled into them by their PR people to not touch that third rail. I'm glad that the drivers are side stepping it and talking about what is going on in racing.

Why does it matter where the debate takes place? Besides it is forum policy not to have discussion like that in an open forum.

They didn't even bid on the last broadcast deal and ran as far from NASCAR as fast as they could so I don't think they give a fig about the series.
 
Somebody (I can't remember who) had a story this morning about the Confederate flag and NASCAR, trying to rehash that story. Those with an agenda will pounce when they sense blood in the water.

ESPN I think does not care about sports anymore , I am just guessing as my TV has not been on a ESPN channel since Homestead 2014, but from what I hear they spend more time covering stuff they shouldnt and less time on stuff they should.

They were my go-to place for watching sports. Now, it seems it's nothing but round table discussions on whatever subject
the talking heads feel like throwing out there. The only time I see ESPN is when I go to the gym -- it's on one of the TVs--
fortunately there's no sound. LOL

I tried to install ESPN3 on my home computer so I could watch cricket and could not, due to a blank page coming up where there should have been an install page, and there were no instructions. As far as I am concerned, if they are leaking oil, their engine should blow up.

The last time my TV was on ESPN was last Monday for MNF and that is the only programming I watch on ESPN and it has to be a match up I am interested in or I pass.

Disclaimer: I don't recall tuning to ESPN since they stopped carrying races, even as an insomnia cure.
