My '63 Unibody (Integral Cab)

I was first to like that post and the pics were always up the right way for me....:idunno:
They’ve been swapping back and forth from right side up to upside down.
Last night on the truck website they were upside down, this morning they were ok

Got the left backing plate installed this afternoon and the other axle. The brakes are awesome. The truck is off the jack stands and finally back on four wheels. I also made some new hard line across the back of the diff.

Umm...GReat job running the break lines bobby...that looks better than stock

Awesome Bud!

Drove an effortless 80 mph on the freeway yesterday. Unreal how well this truck drives. I’m used to sawing the wheel between 11 and 2 while going down the road. I have to get used to holding the wheel steady, like a normal vehicle.
I got the sheet metal back on the truck by about 2pm on Saturday, I had to fix a split rear corner on one of the fenders. The lower spot weld on the inner bracing came loose and cracked the edge of the fender...

Easy fix...

I’ve decided on 1966 Arcadian blue with a Corvette white grille.
Do a Google search for that color if you’re interested, it’s a powder baby blue. Should look good on this truck.
I’m going to need to work some overtime to pull this off $$$. :(

So interested in Bobby's build I came to see for myself! Such an awesome job!

I’ve been trying to stay busy.
The truck was hit in the right rear taillight before I bought it. Poor repair.
Light is tilted to the right, old-school screw type drill and pull fix. Bulbed out on the outer edge.
I found a replacement bed corner in 2005.

I cut the bed corner off and installed the replacement part.

Looking good, Bobby. Lots of love going into that survivor.
Thank you.
I can't help it. I love this truck.
Last Sunday someone offered me $4K for this truck as it sits. I wouldn't sell it for $20K, which is way out on the other end. I like the truck and I don't need the money.
It's a crazy driver, chirps the tires going into 2nd gear. I just like it.
I'm gonna fix it up nice but I'm still gonna load lumber into it and use it like it was intended.
I'm swapping out the doors so I ordered a new warranty plate (VIN plate) and rivets from Marti.
A used, rotted out Uni tailgate can run upwards of $1500 so I'm going to fab a custom tailgate out of tube and sheet metal.

Super nice job, Bobby. Really enjoy reading your trials and tribulations as you progress. So far, everything is looking good. Pulh-leeze, keep the photos and reports coming.

Nice build. I watch a lot of car programs but I enjoy following your progress. You show the stuff they don't show on TV.

I saw a '60 Chevy pickup on my in to work today (nice street rod), he left some rubber when the light turned green.

The bench seat in this truck cracked and tore from sun exposure. I had it reupholstered about 10 years ago.
I found a buck tag on the seat that indicates it’s a 73-79 seat.
I ordered a seat upholstery kit from Stock Interiors, it arrived a few days ago and I attempted to install it today. The seat foam is degraded so I’m on hold until some high density auto seat foam arrives next week. :(

I’m antsy. I hate waiting for stuff.
I also ordered some high quality C.S. Osborne hog ring pliers, Dacron polyester batting and some Camie 303 spray adhesive for the upholstery job.
There’s a some surface rust areas on the roof and on the body so I also ordered a cheap little gravity feed blast gun and some coal slag abrasive to deal with those areas. I’d rather blast with media than sand with paper, especially around the contours of the drip rail.

My VIN tag shipped today. Ford called them “warranty plates.” I’m pretty happy about that. The old one looked terrible with many, many different coats of paint over the years. I’ll post a pic when it arrives.

Foamed the backrest today and got the upholstery installed. Overall, I'm happy with the way it turned out, I've never built foam that extensively, I should've taken pics of the process but I was too involved. The contour of the upholstery widens from top to bottom, I had to build out the front of the lower corners where the backrest will meet the seat. I don't really have any foam shaping tools so I tapered it by hand with a pair of titanium Fiskars shears.I used zero Dacron polyester batting because it won't be here until tomorrow :D but I trimmed the foam well enough that I really don't have any noticeable waves or wrinkles in the vinyl. The seating area is going to be a little more difficult because it needs more extensive foam work, plus I have to make sure that when I mount the halves together the center vinyl lines match up.
That Camie 303 spray is for real
I reused the same blanket backing material from the last upholstery job...

Outstanding! Great job Bud!

Damn fine job. There's no way in hell that I could ever do anything like that.

Damn, the bottom section of the seat is proving more difficult than the backrest. So much foam to rebuild. The seat upholstery is baggy in the front corners. Through trial and error I finally found an effective method of shaping foam. 40 grit flap wheel on a 4" grinder has been really effective.
With the frame and spring repair I figure I'll have 40 hours into this seat redo when it's all said and done.

How beautiful is this? Replacement door VIN tag from Marti. Ford called them "Warranty Tags." It will look sweet on my new door. Comes with factory "hollow" rivets.
I can also mount it to the inside of a glovebox door because 62/63 was the split year that they changed from glovebox door to driver side door and I have a late 62 glovebox door.
DSO 71 is Los Angeles :)
