In previous years, Truex was having issues getting through the chicanes. He was considerably slower than the leaders. It looks like they’ve got that dialed in now and he’s gonna be trouble for everyone.
 
Dinger looks to be as fast as anyone.

I wouldn't be. Car and throttle control are at a premium on road courses. It's not as natural to him as it is to some, but he had the tools to figure it out and be much better than average.

For similar reasons, Clint Bowyer was probably a better road course racer than an oval one, despite coming from a dirt oval background.

He’s got an average finish at Watkins Glen and Sonoma of P15, it’s not like he’s had any consistent success at road courses. He’s gotten better and for him to stay near the front this long at a track he’s never raced on is a good showing.

Yes, not really disagreeing, but suggesting that he will continue to get better with the road course expansion because he has the underlying skills to do so.
 
See what I mean? Chase and his crew always have a good chance to throw wins away. Its never over till he's got the trophy.
