We ache for Brexton knowing his dad was also his racing mentor, guide and biggest supporter. And for a precious 4 year old who is suddenly without her loving papa.

I was 11 when my dad died suddenly. Different of course, but the impacts to my Mom, sister and I were just as real. This tragedy carries me back to that time. I see messages posted to Brexton’s FB account from well intentioned people, telling him to be strong for his mama and carry on the tradition, etc. Trust me, Brexton needs none of that right now. He needs the loving support he will get from his family, extended family, best friends. They all do.

Grieve…cry…hurt…let it out everyone. And honor the memory of a great racer, loving husband and father.

I am constantly thinking about the passing of Kyle Busch, as someone who never met him or was even in the same room with him. The thoughts about him and his family are persistent enough to be writing this post at 3:30 am, but it is nothing compared to what they are facing.

Samantha has a following and a lot of interest, but I think it is fair to say she built her life around Kyle and his racing career. As far as I know, she was always there at the track beside him; that alone speaks for itself. The schedule alone was a tremendous commitment, and now that part of her life and so much more is forever changed.

Many well intended people are thinking about Brexton and his future. He will probably be a racer all his life, and there is a place for those natural concerns and the opportunities. But right now he is just an 11 year old that lost his dad and he would do anything just to be able to talk with his dad one more time. He will be missing his dad for the rest of his life. The love of racing will remain but it will be bittersweet. Hopefully it will turn into a lot of good cherished memories to build upon including some of the treasured things Kyle taught him.

How does a four year old cope with losing a dad?

I can remember working away from my home state for the first time as a young man. Just hearing my dad's voice for the first time on the phone made me realize how much I missed him, and I literally cried. I know that is nothing and a pathetic example when compared to what his family has lost forever. It has to be unimaginable.

I had the privilege of spending some time with both Kyle and Samantha. Kyle was an incredible human being as is Samantha. I will keep it short....when you were with them, you were the only thing that mattered to them. I am serious. I was chatting with Samantha on the grid in Phoenix. Kyle walks by.....Samantha said, "I will be right there as soon as I am done here." WTF. One of the greatest NASCAR drivers in history and your husband walks by, and you are going to finish your conversation with me? That's how they rolled. I spent some time with Kyle and Lee White.....didn't talk much racing.....a little Toyota....but mostly about kids and his charity work. He said that he considered me a hero. I have been at fault on this board for firing off...particularly in the days of KB in a Toyota and when inappropriate and/or negative comments about Samantha were posted....I know better.....kinda personal. Great people, and my heart aches for Samantha, the kids, and the whole family. God be with them.

You think they need 24 hours to recall a commercial? Or even 4? 🙄. I doubt it would be that hard if you had some class and cared about the fact he is tragically gone. Could have replaced it with dead air for all anyone would care. Those jagoffs probably could care less. They spent their money of the billions they make off others suffering and going to get their commercial. Screw those jagoff attorneys.
 
In case anyone is wondering how he could have passed so suddenly given his symptoms, I saw two doctors explain what may have happened but Samantha herself explains and confirms what actually happened. I can attest to the fact that this can happen because I have had major surgery on my sinuses 4 times over my life and due to problems with bone structure in my face. There is very little tissue remaining in me there now because of all the surgeries.

People don't realize how close the sinuses are to the brain, how thin the barrier is between them and that there can be major problems or even fatalities if that barrier is breached because of infection or because of surgical error. The sinus contents and infection can quickly move up into the brain and cause serious damage.

It's ironic that he drove in one of the most dangerous sports there is but he was brought down by something many of us often experience.

If you have a sinus infection, don't let it go as "just a sinus infection", get it looked at before it goes too far.

God rest Kyle's soul and blessings and condolences to Samantha and the kids.

I agree that sinus infections are often down played.

I question the authenticity and accuracy of these two videos, based on their sources and content. Notice that neither shows Samantha or any of Kyle's treatment team making ANY statements, much less ones specifically attributing a sinus infection (or any other) as his cause of death. That information will be released in statements from Kyle's family, agent, RCR, NASCAR, or other source directly connected to him.

Those videos are AI and whoever originally made and posted them is disgusting and YouTube should remove them.

Good luck with that. YouTube and most other content hosts allow or ignore content that's far more exploitive than this. I'm not intending this statement as a knock on @Tumbleweed but people who use the Internet should learn how to identify questionable content. Being deceived by a bogus video is basically harmless; falling for a financial scam is a whole 'nuther critter.

Yeah, I have no faith in YouTube in removing them but I reported them anyway. It's more scary that people actually believe this stuff. Some of the quotes alone in the video are so obviously things that Samantha would never say. It's disgusting people make these awful videos and get to monetize them.

Here is the Megan Kelly video I referred to earlier about the interview with two physicians. The comments by the second doctor in particular are what made the supposed Samantha comments believable to me.

So you took two doctors? opinions (guesses) about a serious health matter who neither had treated Kyle Busch and you thought that was the way to go, the conspiracy theory route.
 
Kyle's family has come out and said it was due to Sepsis from Pneumonia complications.

He was sick weeks ago. I'm not a doctor, so maybe I am naive, but this just feeld so preventable. Was he not screened and treated for Pneumonia? Is there a type of Pneumonia that isn't treatable?

I'm not sure why one would consider a podcaster with a minimal background in sports or medicine as a reliable source on this subject.

Looks like her staff spotted a trending topic, called two people who are likely on retainer and who knew no more details about Kyle's problems than you or I, and regurgitated some content while the iron was hot.

With respect to Kyle, we don't know what information he gave his doctors over the last couple of weeks, or how closely he followed their advice. We don't know if the 'sinus infection' at Watkins Glen was diagnosed by a doctor or if Kyle assumed that was the problem based on previous issues.

Way too early and not enough info to reach conclusions.

Pneumonia has variables and the seriousness can elevate very rapidly. Kyle was under a doctor’s care so we can presume he was taking medications. But it’s all speculation. Very healthy people can be leveled by pneumonia, and if the infection travels into the bloodstream, that defines sepsis, which is what kills many people dealing with an infectious illness.

Someone I was speaking to wondered if he was trying to “tough it out” and shouldn’t have been driving. Who can know? How many of us have “toughed it out” with any number of things? Personally I’ll leave it to the family or their doctors to say what they care to say.

Another factor. As you pointed out, we don't know. We may never know, although Samantha may.

As far as reliability of information, if you found it as a result of a Google search, think twice about believing it and then toss it out anyway. Stick to NASCAR, Jayski, RCR, or the family, not bloggers and influencers who didn't know who Kyle was before two days ago. Not statements attributed to them, but actual words directly out of their mouths or their own personal social media feeds.

I know. Sometimes it's just easier to try to reach for something to give a sense of control over the fragility of life. It's easier than coping with the reality that life and tragedy truly can be unpredictable and unpreventable.

This is flashing me back to when I was extremely sick with Guillain-Barre Syndrome back in 2018 - autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the nervous system.

I went to urgent care after a week of headaches, and some numbness in my mouth, and vision that was slowly becoming double. Spent the next few days in the hospital. Even though I was in the hospital, I still felt as though I could function those first 2 days. By the evening of the third day, I could not stand without vomiting and my face was numb. I woke up at 6am the following morning, my face mostly paralyzed, my right hand paralyzed, my feet numb and partially paralyzed, my throat muscles werent working, my diaphragm wasn't working. I wokeup in respiratory failure, while vomiting, unable to even swallow my own saliva and properly vomit. I was intubated within 10 minutes.

If I had been home, or on vacation, or anywhere other than a hospital, I would have died from acute respiratory failure or asphyxiation, whichever came first, within the hour if I didnt have immediate access to medical care. Another few weeks of descending into full body paralysis, and yet still knowing that I was expected to recover. 3 Months later, I did and ultimately went home.

I may be projecting my own brush with death and outcome onto Kyle's story here. Life is fragile, but man it's a comfort knowing some deaths could have been prevented.


I, like others, I'm sure, wish Kyle's passing could have been preventable with earlier intervention.

We may never know.

Understood. As I noted in one of these threads, I cope by trying to move on. Maybe it's my military background where continuing the mission is the consideration. For example, I keep stopping myself from posting in the Silly Season thread about who's going to drive the #33 for the rest of the season, and what dominoes will that decision trigger.

And no, that's not an invitation to discuss that here. After the C600 is early enough.
