O'Reilly RACE thread --- Charlotte

I don't have a lot of hope for this race, but maybe we'll get some racing.
From the looks of the radar, don't have much hope for the trucks later on, either.
There is no way you could have less hope for these two races than I do.

The forecasted probability of precipitation doesn't go below 70% until Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile here at my apartment at the coast, we had two very brief passing rain showers last night and that's it. Bone dry and extremely humid.

It was supposed to rain all night on Thursday night and not a drop.

Strange things happen in a drought.

You're telling me! We've been bone dry for months. Now, we can't seem to get a break from the rain. Today is the first day that I've seen the sun in the last 10 days. Poured 3 inches out of the rain gauge yesterday afternoon. That was the total from last Sunday. Part of my back yard is a freaking swamp. Mosquitoes are big as horse flies.

We couldn't buy rain if it was on sale.

And I know what's gonna happen. At some point we're going to get six straight weeks of rain, and then go back to no rain for 9 months.

Man, the chance of rain has been between 60% and 80% all week and is forecast to continue that way through Tuesday. But then the detailed forecast says 'Rain accumulation less that .10 inch" or 'Between .10 and .25 inches". High chances of getting spat on.

Regardless, this race isn't going to stay green for long.

I don't pay much attention to these apps anymore. I get my weather from Ethan Clark (North Carolina's Weather Authority on Facebook) and Donnie Cox (News 12).

It was supposed to rain all night last night and never did. It was supposed to rain all day today and didn't. Now they're backing off of tomorrow's rain.

Track drying efforts were unable to keep ahead of the rain, so they've stopped trying. It's estimated it will take an hour to dry WHEN they restart the dryers. So now we're looking at a best case of 9-ish.

Enough. If YouTube doesn't get it recorded, I'll get by somehow. Y'all enjoy.

Would they continue this race or would they move to the scheduled truck race? I’d imagine stick with this since the cars and pit boxes are already out there.
Yeah I think so too. They started this one. Everybody is dressed up and ready to party. They have a small army of dryers on scene.

Especially when their backs are against the wall like it is now. Already way behind schedule. Not sure they’ve ever ran three national series races in one day, or whether they’d even attempt it.
The only instance in which three national series raced the same day on the same track was Pocono 2020; but of course, that weekend was held without fans and all the TV rights were held by FOX/FS1.

Yeah pretty sure they would like to get the whole race in but I bet they have a good idea how long it takes to get to halfway.

Really wish they would get rid of the yellow flags for the end of the stages and just award the points at the last stage lap and keep it green. So silly they finally are racing again and there's going to be a caution so quick cause it's the end of the stage.
