Just a thread(separate from the NASCAR thread) where we can ponder questions and have a back and forth.

I will start...will Joe Gibbs throw Brian Vickers a bone and give him a few races in a 4th car on top of the races he will run for MWR? I could see this at plate tracks so he has 4 teams, and an even 2/2 split to draft.
 
When you say "throw Brian Vickers a bone", you don't mean in the biblical sense, right? ;)

I guess it all depends on sponsorship. I don't see JGR doing anything special for Brian unless they have a shot at getting him in a sponsored ride.
 
Here's a question. What will happen if Carl and Fennig flop this year and don't win a race or make the chase? What if that happens, and Ricky wins a race or makes the chase?

Answer , same as yours to the first question. It's not uncommon for a top fifteen type driver to hang around for many years with a good driver/sponsor relationship. Jeff Burton and Juan Pablo for two. Everyone can't have Brad or Jimmy driving their car.

They work great together, like Batman and Robin . Have many years does Joey put up with the sidekick tag , before he starts to resent it?

I was thinking mostly at the plate tracks. I am sure JGR could find sponsorship for four races.

Good question. If Joey is smart, he'll be his own man right from day one. I doubt Brad would use him up like we saw Denny and Kyle do, but if he allows it to happen, it could be tempting for any driver.
 
While a possible Kyle Busch/Denny Hamlin slap and pinch fight does have several hilarious possibilities...its really not in the best interest for Coach.

Actually, seeing Kenseth and Vickers as teammates would be interesting considering Kenseth seems to go out of his way to wreck Vickers for no apparent reason on a fairly routine basis.

Best thing for Logano to do is win the champiohip for himself and replace Keselowski as #1. I doubt he'll ever do it if he's happy playing 2nd fiddle so either he has the drive/talent or he don't.

Either way, it'll be fun to watch how things unfold at Penske over the next few years.

Well, Logano knows what he's up against so does he bide his time, learn what he can and then go after it or come in full throttle and take no prisoners? Martinsville should be a good indicator ;)

I don't know what Joey will do, but Brad loves racing hard. The last 2 races at the Glen made that clear.

They will work as good team mates should and not wreck each other. Aside from that they will both focus on winning as individuals and help Team Penske as needed without sacrificing a good finish.

I doubt it. I think that BV is positioning himself for a full-time 2014 MWR ride.

Joey is just coming of age. I think that the input he will get from Brad and Mr. Penske will help him tremendously in 2013. I don't see Joey being happy with a Number 2 status - even though he knows that he is racing with the Champ.

I expect good things from the Logano/Kez/Penske camp!

I agree and if Logano takes on that attitude we may finally see what the young man is made of. I just hope that he's not in it to play the supporting role.

Me too. He was so immature when he came in he seemed to just follow Denny and Kyle's instructions to sacrifice his performance to help them on the track. I think those 2 may end up racing each other harder than most teammates do. It's too early to tell, but Logano could have his breakout year and get multiple wins and make the chase.

I was thinking about the Chase this morning and who I thought was going to get in this year. No, Logano wasn't one of them but I had no problem coming up with a few drivers that I thought would get in. My only problem is picking drivers that I think will fall out of it this year. I know that doesn't make sense but it seems to be a lot easier to pick drivers that will make it.

Yeah, he played the nice guy roll very well with JGR. I don't think Roger Penske has a slot for that mentality.

I tried the same and had the same problem. The best I could come up with was Truex Jr, Dale Jr and one or both of the Roush vets. This could be the year Jack decides his organization needs a major overhaul.

Logano's performance is a bit strange. His 10 races in the chase in 2010 would have been good enough to really compete or win if he was in. Then he just tanked in 2011, which happens to be the year he moved out of his parents house. I honestly believe he got totally distracted with his new found freedom and started feeling like he had it made. Losing his ride and almost being forced out of Cup surely woke him up. If he doesn't stay super motivated this year, I'll write him off as a loser who could have been huge in Cup. Many drivers have mentioned Brads drive and work ethic, so I don't think it will be easy for Joey to slack off after Brad put it on the line to get him the #22.

I still may make a change. I guess my last chance to evaluate the Penske Fords will be the unlimited.
 
As my Bold Prediction I picked Brad to repeat as Champ. How cool would it be to see a Penske FORD 1-2 in the final standings?
Ever since the announcement that he was going to team up with Roger and Bradley I have said that Joey could be poised for a breakout year. He will no longer have to deal with the dysfinction that is Hambone and Pee Wee. He also won't have to endure the daily prayer circle that Mr. Gibbs promotes.

Now he's gonna partner up with a beer-drinking psycophant who's not afraid to speak his mind and an owner who knows how to win. I think Joey is gonna do quite well in this new role of his!

Me thinks that psycophant will win a few over the years. I think Joey could pick up where he left off at the end of 2010 when he went 6,5,4,3,2 during the chase. Too bad he wasn't invited.
