And I seriously doubt that contract gives TV any say over how the Champion is decided, simply that they have the broadcasts rights. So tell them we're deciding the title how we want and they can pound sand if they don't like it. And then let them be the ones who try to break the contract and sue...

Then tell TV to screw it, we'll go to Apple TV, Amazon Prime or another partner. Heck NBC barely even shows the Cup series anymore on network TV, typically only the last few races. Most of the races this year were on USA. That alone strips them of the right to dictate how the Champion is...

My guess is there will be a big bump points wise for winning. They are still going to want to reward winning. They won't go back to the old system where the 2nd place driver in theory could score as many points as the winner. I agree they will still do stage points, and I'm okay with that, but...

Does Denny Hamlin ever get in a NASCAR Cup Series car again?

And considering Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards were teammates for awhile, I could see Carl being one of the first calls Denny makes to talk it over. I will say, if I was betting, I don't doubt Denny will stay involved in the sport from the team ownership side. But I really don't believe you'll...

Definitely agree with ending the playoffs and going back to a full season championship. GWC I like, but don't allow any pit stops, you have what you have. As for stages, I'm okay with them but keep the race going. No need to throw the caution. It's clear they only do that so that it builds in...

I didn't walk away, but I slowly started losing interest after Tony Stewart retired. It was a terrible time in general for NASCAR and none of the driver's at the time really made me want to invest in them. A couple years after Smoke retired, it was the time Kyle Busch started maturing a lot. I...

Like someone else said, the problem with the GWC is that it nullifies the rest of the race entirely. I was never a fan of races ending under caution, but I don't like the current GWC. Like a previous poster said, I think for the GWC going forward you don't allow any pit stops. You have what you...

Does Denny Hamlin ever get in a NASCAR Cup Series car again?

At one point Tony Stewart was heavily involved in NASCAR. Now you may see him make an appearance every now and then, but he's essentially out of the sport. He's too busy at this point with his NHRA Top Fuel dragster wife Leah Pruett, being a top fuel racer himself now and TSR. It would be easy...

Honestly, all I really watched this year was the Daytona 500, Coke 600, Southern 500, Bristol night race, Martinsville and today's race at Phoenix. And I would say the Daytona 500 and today's Phoenix race were the only ones I watched start to finish. I've shift more towards F1 and sports cars.

The problem with this thinking, and the whole "so and so would've won the title in (inset year) by this amount of points under the old Winston Cup system" is that you assume that the teams make the exact same decisions. If we do go back to a 36 race season with no playoffs, suddenly there is a...

Does Denny Hamlin ever get in a NASCAR Cup Series car again?

That's how I am. If it was me I just walk away and try not to look back. I don't even know if I could be involved in the sport anymore. Not only could I see him going the Carl Edwards route and walk away, but I could see him either selling or just being a silent owner of 23XI racing with no true...

I posted a thread about this. No way do I see Denny coming back next year for this. It wouldn't shock me if he left the sport. I imagine he would still keep 23XI racing, but it might end up like Tony Stewart and Stewart-Haas Racing, where it's just his name on it, but he has little or nothing to...

One of the dumbest decisions of all time by Denny Hamlin's crew chief. You don't have to win the race, just beat Larson and Briscoe. You do whatever it takes to stay in front of them. Taking 2 tires, Denny would've been ahead and had the better car. Talk about a choke job. That crew chief should...

Does Denny Hamlin ever get in a NASCAR Cup Series car again?

After this, I say it's 50/50 at best if he comes back to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2026. Put me down as one of the people who believed that, if Denny Hamlin won the title, he might retire. I'm just not sure how you recover from this. I'm not even a Denny Hamlin fan and felt heartbroken for him...
