We see plenty of remakes, and parallel movies. You've got the whole super hero gendre going on now. This thread is to compare not just the movies, but the characters too.

I offer to begin ... two movies practically from one script. Armageddon and Deep Impact. Both movies have a comet on a collision course with earth, both have to get nukes down into a hole on the comet, and both have a father figure who gives his lift to safe the earth, and his kids. Bruce Willis, the hard ass millionaire oil driller who starts off the movie shooting at his daughter's boyfriend. Robert Duval ... Last man to walk on the moon, now pilot of the craft that has to land on the comet. Who did it better?

A little bored today are we? Business slow down? :D

I liked Deep Impact much better than Armageddon. It came across as a more serious, realistic movie to me, and it had my peeps Morgan Freeman and Téa Leoni in it. Armageddon was a lot like Independence Day. It had a bunch of big stars in it and made a ton of money, but the substance just wasn't there.
