AMA Motocross Coverage

Watching Roczen die sucked balls. This 450 points race just got a lot less interesting.

It's ironic you said that, then Tomac became Pro Circuit Kawasaki's new Near-Invincible Hero and, as of tonight, is leading Dungey on a tiebreaker.

Tomac ftfw. Ze racing was güd tonight.

Tomac is unreal right now. 20th in the first turn, 10th at the end of the first lap, wins by six seconds cruising. The outcome wasn't even in serious doubt once he got to 3rd or 4th. It's the best ride I've ever seen since I started seriously watching a few years ago.

They were all pulling over. I have never seen that many do that.
Being a Tomac fan the past few years, I am gutted. I don't see it happening
next week unless Dungey gets hurt in practice or something
crazy. Man I feel like saying a cuss word!

Sucked for Tomac and the championship race next week really. Was hoping it'd be dead even going in but not sure Tomac can make that up in one race on Dungey.

That left a really bad taste. I'm just bummed watching crap like that. I don't fault Musquin too much. He's not the one in real power in that situation and needs the team behind him for his future. You could see that he was uncomfortable after the race and half-heartedly making excuses about his 'mistake'.

It's not good for the potential growth of Supercross or MX generally
in a Fox network showcase race when any novice can see what occurred. I hope the boos that were raining down after the race continue and put some heat on Red Bull KTM and changes some minds for the future. Kawasaki didn't even have Josh Grant pull over for Tomac to pick up another point for 7th place. That's the team I'll be pulling for next week. It seems impossible, but anything can happen.

Having said all that, Tomac blew it with unforced mental errors.

And Tomac's teammate did the same.

Wait, no. Tomac's teammate Grant definitely did not pull over for a much less meaningful position. Twice Tomac was behind him, and twice Grant did not let him by and continued to race hard. Grant finished 7th, Tomac finished 8th.

Someone was stopped just before the line.

Josh Grant is Tomac's teammate and beat Tomac by 7 seconds. He didn't let up at all over the final two laps when he could have, and he didn't let up earlier in the race with Tomac right on him, and that's when Tomac crashed for a second time. KTM forced their B rider to give up a win. So direct the ire there, Tomac didn't benefit from any shenanigans tonight.

I dont like it but I was sure Musquin was going to let Dungey back in front.

I wanted Tomac to win the championship and I still do. But Dungey had the better race with or without the shenanigans.

Someone was stopped just before the line.
@gnomesayin is correct. The Kawasaki that stopped just before the finish line was #151, Dakota Tedder, who was a lap down to Tomac. He may have been confused or uncertain about his running position relative to Tomac, who is not his teammate but both are Kawasaki riders.

I don't like team orders either, but any long-time observer of motorsports should not be surprised. The net effect is that Dungey can clinch the title with a 4th place in Las Vegas, and without the gift from his teammate, he would have needed 3rd place to clinch. What a dreadful performance by Eli Tomac, but he has had a stellar year, and IMO he deserves the title. That point scale is too flat and under-rewards race winners, but that is a discussion for another day.

I've enjoyed watching SX this year. Hard racing at the front, although the field is woefully thin in quality. It pretty much always has been this way. And the racing has been exciting and real, despite the fact that SX is the most spoofilated, tricked-up-with-gimmicks racing anywhere. I guess Rallycross is as spoofilated, but I've never found that exciting or interesting, YMMV. Also, the Supercross telecasts have been good. They shied away from the team orders question, which was not cool. Should have acknowledged and explained the inevitability of that deal, IMO.

Hoping for an upset in Las Vegas....

The Iron Man in Crawfordsville IN today was an awesome race. The place was packed.

Not going to lie, I'm a bit bummed a GP rider came over and waxed the field his first time out.

Congrats to Eli Tomac and Zach Osborne on their championships.

I'm staying at the Comfort Suites in Brownsburg waiting for the U.S Nationals next weekend and a lot of the AMA teams are staying here also. This place is like race central right now with drag racing and motorcycle haulers parked here.:)

That sounds freaking awesome. I like to imagine everyone is showing off their different stuff. Cross-promotion. Lol
