So I have been reading a lot of articles on racer.com lately, and they talk about Fernando Alonso's Indy 500 run a few weeks ago. For those that might not know, this guy is an F1 driver that decided to ditch the F1 Monaco race and instead race in the Indy 500. (The Monaco race and indy 500 are on the same day, along with the Coke 600).
Anyway, the Europeans or open wheel drivers consider winning the F1 Championship, the 24 hours of LeMans, and the Indy 500 their "triple crown".
So what would be the American triple crown?
My thoughts are Daytona 500, Indy 500, and their respective championship, i.e. NASCAR or Indycar.
I would think a road race might be included somewhere but I don't know which one. Maybe the 24 hours of Daytona or 12 hours of Sebring?
What do you guys think?
