Not for this man, I think the current and only pair of sneakers I have ran me $40 at Kohls some 7 years ago.

I wear sneakers for almost everything, but just plain old New Balances nothing fancy

$360 or more for a pair of sneakers?

As far as sneakers are concerned, I'm a K-Swiss guy. I paid, like, $80 for my last pair.

I'lll lay down $140 for a stellar pair of Asics without skipping a beat. When you put 400 running miles on a shoe, I dont cheap out on performance.

This has always been kind of the case with Nikes and Adiddas. All you have to do is put a proven company name and a brand name such as Michael Jordan, Lebron James etc and you suddenly become a cash cow.

"The market for sneakers—particularly high-end ones---is booming with men throwing down hundreds of dollars a pair.
According to Neiman Marcus’ CEO Karen Katz, sneakers now account for more than 50% of their men’s shoe business—far surpassing leather loafers and wingtips—with the average sneaker sale retailing at $360 a pop."
When I saw this thread title I thought "Oh lordy she's got her ruler out we've crapped in the woodpile again". :D

I recall a story on the skyrocketing price of 'sneakers' brought on by endorsements from athletes and that $200+ pair of air whatever's cost less than 10 bucks to make in places like Bangladesh

I still have my wedding and funeral shoes in my closet. they're the ones you have to polish, remember them? No need for work boots. Sperry topsider boat shoes are my go to everyday shoes. About $75 and good for at least 3 years.

I'm wearing the same $120 steel cap work shoes I've had for 20 years. Only other shoes I own are $40 Dr. Scholls loafers and a specialty pair of anti-static safety shoes for computer work in OSHA type locations. The anti static shoes are about 10 years old and still look new. The loafers I replace every couple of years as the toes get scuffed from wearing them to church.

Both my boys wear Converse AllStars. Usually pay about $60 for them. They last about a year before wear and growth render them useless.

Most expensive pair of shoes I owe is my red wing work boots. My other shoes are Converse I got for like $40.
