The local market just called and I won tickets to MIS this weekend and I passed them up.

Just represents the new feelings on NASCAR and the follow the leader stage show.
Pitiful just pitiful !

You are missing out. Love MIS.
I used to when you could see lots of side by side racing and they didn't have different paint jobs each week.

Why not give them to someone that could use them? Even on this board? That would have been great for someone on the fence about going.

Would have if I knew some close by who would want them.

Well, that was pretty dumb. I don't care how you feel about the racing, going to the races is great regardless.
Used to feel that way.
Been a while though!
I've gone to mid lots of times, we even went to the inaugural there. And a can am race.

My "New Era!" moment was a few weeks ago, when I suddenly realized I could divert my journey just a few hundred miles and attend the Cup and Xfinity races at Kentucky Speedway. It was "new" because it was last minute, a party of one, and never been to that track before. Had a great time... hail to new eras.. ;)

Me too. TV does that place an injustice.

I agree. So much character, and the area is freakin' beautiful. Went once as an exploratory trip by myself to see if I should bring the family out. We are going next year--couldn't manage logistics this year.

Well if I win again next year, they are yours watch this space for updates.

Make sure they are the Champions Club. Great experience.

I didn't even see the tickets but I'm guessing the were Sun baked tier one club seats.
I got tickets to that cart race they ran vrs the Indy 500 and those were turn one Sun baked seats.
Not bad though.
I was more enthusiastic then.

From our seats at Michigan in June 2015 and no that's not me. We loved every minute of it even the rain rain rain and more rain.

I remember that one. Under the stands a lot. Still had a great time. A few fans showed me some interesting ways to dry off with the fabulous hand dryers at MIS. Good people that day

Don't let 'em give you a hard time Larry...... believe it or not.... I turned down free tickets to the August night race at Bristol 2 times back in the late 90's when the waiting list was 2 years... and it was only a 3 hour drive from here.... just was never a fan of Bristol......

I don't get nearly as many calls from acquaintances and others for freebies any longer but it is not uncommon. I went to both races in Michigan from the 80's up until about 10-15 years ago but decided to stop going when it became more of a PITA then fun. These days I prefer to record the races and if I am entertained I watch intently and if not just do an abbreviated viewing which makes better use of time for me.

Different strokes for different folks as some would kill to be able to attend MIS this Sunday while others would rather have a tooth pulled and I can respect each view.

I thought it was you at first then I realized the pic couldn't have been from 1968........:D

You cant complain about the cost of attending a race when you throw away free ones.

Depending on where you stay and the distance you travel tix may be the 4th-5th most expensive thing.

The ticket prices for a race are normally second on my NASCAR trip list.

1) Fuel (Diesel) - Towing a 5er Toy Hauler
2) Pair of tickets
3) Food
4) RV Campsite
5) Adult beverages
Yep Same here. All other expenditures are vacation expenses. We always combine our trips to include anything of interest in the area that we're in. Our trips, with the exception of Daytona and Homestead are always three to five weeks.
