Why I was worried, here in GA. All the trees standing, well, two down but not near the house. Neighborhood has fence damage. I hope that tree wasn't one of mine. What a mess!

Damn I would have thought being in Florida you would have had it way worst than I did here in the middle of Georgia. That's close to what we had, maybe a little less. Glad you're safe tho.

I'm glad ya'll made it through okay. It kept veering to the east of us until it cleared us to the north. We're really lucky.
 
Hi all, we are in good shape finally, both generators are doing their job very well. We have a whole house hook up 7800 watt run and a 3000 watt for fans and frig at night to sleep by, all things considered we are in great shape. We lost a bunch of shingles and tar paper, lost my oak in the back yard, power still out as of this writing, which I am not at all surprised or upset. We lost a lot of power poles in my area.
I am really impressed with Duke Energies response to this, we have them and 5 other outfits getting power back. I think by Sunday or Monday we should be up and going in my area.
I will post some pictures later.
If any of you have experienced 100+ MPH steady wind for over 5 hours plus all the buildup of wind to those extremes, you know how it feels, if you have not there is no way to explain the helplessness during that time. Lets just say last Sunday night was an E ticket ride for sure.

We are fortunate here, I am thinking of the flooded out folks here in Fla, Georgia,Texas, Louisiana area, my heart goes out to them, I can not imagine. I have had 4 homes and all were and are on high ground for a reason.

sdj, very happy to hear you made it and are doing OK.
I, too, know the sound of the wind --- I once had to sleep in the back seat of my car in the attached garage because I just
couldn't take the sound of Alicia as it moved through the Houston area.
 
Really happy to know everybody survived this storm with minimal damage. Englewood was targeted as being one of the communities in the direct path of Hurricane Irma right up until early Sunday when it turned east and north creating havoc over central Florida. Our good fortune was at the expense of the misfortune dealt to those in her path.
On our return from Raleigh, drove U.S. 1 to S.C. then 601 and 301 south and saw great damage and destruction in center of Florida. Power lines down, trees uprooted and homes delay a harsh blow. Those poor folks had little to no warning and the amount of damage was surprising. Gas scare until south of Ocala and several fast food places closed for lack of supplies according to people we spoke with when we stopped to eat and get gas.
Just glad everyone is safe.
