SiriusXM's NASCAR Radio - Today's, not so hidden, agenda.....

Always value your insight as everything isn't always (and these days, rarely) how it appears on the surface. Two good examples of that.

This works all kinds of ways, but doesn't seem to matter to some.

Also...in the spirit of fairness (I just shot holes through one dude, might as well even out the karma hahaha) I've worked with Moody a few times this season - really good experiences. He's extremely accommodating and easy to work with. Low maintenance. Funny as hell, too. I don't particularly care for a lot of the radio host bullying he does to callers (despite the fact that some are clearly asking for it, lol) but behind the scenes I've had good experiences with him.

Not surprised. His attitude clearly changes with those in the industry.

The usual Morning Drive crew (Pistone and Bagley) is unlistenable. They seem to think they are hilarious. In my opinion they aren't funny at all, simply annoying

Moody always sounds like an arrogant windbag. But I can't figure out if he became that way due to the people who call in during his show. Or if it's his attitude that attracts such callers. o_O

Tradin' Paint is okay, I like Noble and Choc.

Clare is adorable, but sometimes her shows just seem a little light on substance.

Gillie and McReynolds always seem interesting and informative. Gillie and Herman are another matter. Kenny Wallace is a foul-mouthed annoyance.

All JMHO. ;)

Pretty much nailed it all lol.

I know people like and respect Claire, but I just can't warm up to her. She's essentially nothing more than a reporter. I've never heard her offer any insight or analysis. And to have your own show on a major sports channel, I would assume that would/should be part of the gig.

Used to listen to Claire when she and Tim Farley hosted their shows on XM..... The start of the NASCAR Channel. They were the only two hosts they had. She's been around a long time and seems to be well liked by the teams. She's hosted NASACR shows far longer than all of her coworkers. Not for everyone but I like her.

I don't know...he's not a very popular guy. I have a personal reason to dislike him (and I do, greatly) but I don't assume just because I have reason not to like a guy, others shouldn't like them as well. That's up to them. It just turns out many others have their own reasons as well. His actions are in large part why his son doesn't get support. He's burnt bridges.

Your in a different situation than we are as you have direct contact at a business level and when money and family involved it brings out a whole other side of a person.. We only see and deal with him as an excellent source of details and stats about the sport.

I find myself steering away more and more from Channel 90. Every year during NFL season I usually split my time between 88 and 90. Now I find myself spending more time listening to NFL, MLB, and Lithium. Yeah, I don't think I am going to renew when my contract is up in November.

Speaking of Nascar Radio. Did anyone hear the last hour of Moody's show on Wednesday?

I did and he pretty much called all the owners, drivers, sponsors, and fans racist. Moody said that Bubba Wallace needs to have a ride because he is black and it has been to long in the sport of Nascar to have a black star driver. What ever it takes he said that Bubba needs a ride.
I am OK with Bubba getting a ride based on his driving skills and personality not the color of his skin. True equality is based on the person not skin color or gender in my opinion.
But back to the high and mighty Dave Moody. Since he is the moral judge and stands on high about the sport. He said part of the reason no blacks are involved with the sport or come as fans is because they see no one like them at the races.
So I have a solution for part of the problem Moody has pointed out. I say we all call his show and ask when he is going to resign and let a person of color have his show. Let's be honest about it Nascar radio is all white men but Claire, so if Moody believes that minorities would feel more welcome to the sport if they heard one of their own. I say again we need to knew when "The Godfather" will be resigning.
Also one last point about the great Moody. When he owned his late model team he had a white male driver.
He is just a smug blow hard hypercrite.

I sure hope the kid gets a ride but ultimately it is up to the sponsors to decide what driver they want in the car at least in many cases. I mentioned on another thread that it would be great to see the black business community rally around this kid and get him the dollars he needs to ride. One call to Oprah Winfrey and the kid is a good as gold.

One major omission from my earlier post: I think Harvick's show is pretty darn good. It's great to hear insights and straightforward opinions from a current top driver.

Okay, so today Jim and Choc went on a toot about how maybe it's unfair that today's qualifying at Kansas will carry over to Martinsville next weekend. Choc in particular seems to feel it's somewhat unfair.

IIRC, in the past, Choc has talked about how "back in the day" ;), the number one pit stall was given to the previous season's champion. Couldn't you argue that policy gave a certain driver an unfair advantage?

Of course, as I understand it, the driver who benefited most from that was Dale Earnhardt. Who of course Choc used to work for, LOL

P.S. if anyone remembers more about that policy, and when it was in effect, I'd be interested in hearing about it. Because quite frankly I don't remember myself.

Hey Kids! Chasing History (or is the name of the show...."Chase is History"?) is on tonight with Claire B. Lang! Can't miss it! A whole bunch of references to how he was raised, racing people the way they race him, and a gushing Claire slobbering all over his interior specialist on tap. Must listen radio on the week of the Championship of which Chasey is not a participant.

And the green eyed monster of jealousy emerges again.

Don't miss the segment where they discuss all his Cup wins. It airs from 6:30-6:30.

Maybe you'll grow up someday to have your own radio show and can fill it with all kinds of Toyota propaganda and foul Kyle Busch soundbites (plenty to go around).

Chase has the name, the image, the appeal to the young audience, the talent, and took over for one of the sports all-time greatest drivers. If you can't figure out from that why people might be interested in hearing more about him, or why the sport sees it important to latch onto him for its future then I got nothing for you.

Winning a million races will get you a fan base in a hurry, I see more Truex fans at the track now than I ever used to, which was 0. However, winning isn't the only thing people are interested in, and it certainly isn't the only thing they connect to. And that's why Dale Jr. is who he is. It's not just a name, it's a combination of everything. Chase is NASCAR's next total package whether people like it or not, the evidence is there for all to see. He's going to be carrying the flag for a long time.

I for one cannot WAIT until that 1st win, because that's literally the only thing you people have to latch onto right now. Once that happens - silence.

This post will shock the world.....Kevin Harvick's Happy Hours is one of the best shows on the channel. I am not joking. Harvick talks about the parts of the sport I love. Really enjoy it.

Why do I keep missing your posts? You like Chase. Good deal. Let's let him become whatever he will become instead of crowning him before he has won that first race you are WAITING for? Whatcha say?

Good grief they pick a person to do a show about every year.

Some folks must not have a dial on their radio(yeah I know it is a button).

I agree with @Revman . I'm not a Harvick fan in any way... he is a dirty driver and a disingenuous hypocrite who is very loose with the truth. But his radio show is excellent, and so are his forays into the TV booth.

I don't know if I could ever accept him as a legitimate member of the media. He has been very clear that he hopes to do TV after his driving days are done. The sooner he is off the track, the better, IMO.

I'm a Harvick fan, he has changed a lot in his golden years IMO. He has wisdom and it shows during his broadcasts IMO. I don't agree with everything he says, but compared to what NBCSN has in the booth today? psst no contest.

Offseason TMD. How the hell does this show stay on the air? Pathetic. For God's sake, a recent promo stated, "....talks about NASCAR and other stuff, but mostly NASCAR..." What the hell does that say? Bagley and Pistone don't have enough to fill the show. What a damn embarrassment.

I think if you unsubscribe, like me, you'll find that you don't really miss it. Or, do I have to break out the Hoda?

I still have it but the tuner never leaves Willies Roadhouse.

Pandora is much cheaper, or even free, and just as entertaining when it comes to music. Personally, I pay for the uninterrupted music on Pandora. We use it most every day.

I'm letting my subscription run out this June. Thanks, I'll check it out.

TMD sucks year-round, unless they're interviewing someone or one of the usual two is out and there's a guest host.

JMHO ;)

I don't know what it is with TMD lately I just can't stand that show anymore. Maybe it's because they think they're 6 times funnier than they are? or when you tune in you have to wait til 20 min into the show in order for them to talk about something racing related?

I stopped listening towards the end of the schedule last year. Can't say that I miss anything those 2 boneheads chatted about. I couldn't decide if those two or Dave Moody was the bigger homer for NASCAR. What finally tipped in Dave Moody's favor was the memories of how he used to go after people if they called in wanted to give points out for leading any lap expect for the last one. Now, he's the biggest supporter of stage racing on the planet. Yep, Snaggletooth Moody moved into first place after that.

Moody has contradicted himself more times than I can count in the less than 2 years I've been listening.

I like Moody’s show .. now chocolate lol with all his coughing and saying brother let me take you back to old days and this and that .. now that’s annoying but I still like it

TMD just painful this morning. There is no question that they do nothing to prepare for a show....and their producers do less. So, on satellite radio--the way the subscriptions are packaged--do they even need listener numbers?

Here's why I hate NASCAR Radio.....TMD, Speedway, and Dialed In make it pretty easy to conclude that I need to cancel my subscription. Then, along comes Gille with Larry Mac last night. Freaking brilliant show. Gary Eaker from the Aerodyn Wind Tunnel facility talked about aero. What teams test. How long they test. Etc., etc., etc.....Awesome conversation about aero now (from Gary) and then (Larry). This is why it is so clear to me that this isn't about a lack of stories in the offseason, this is about piss poor production. Larry also talked about the process of switching bodies (what Chevy is doing right now). The talk about why Toyota was slow to come to grips with the Camry, but when it did, it blew everybody away. Why the hell can't every show be like this? I think that one of the common denominators in all of last night's stories was that we didn't talk on and on about the freakin' driver drama. The cars are the stars and always have been in racing IMO, and we need to get back to that. Having said that, they won't be the stars anymore if we make them all the same IMO.
