Rate The Race: Texas II

7. Race had some good three and four-way battles for the lead in Stage 1, and there were several battles behind the leaders at the time. It all kind of fell off in the last two stages, but Harvick's pass over Truex made up for some of that.

Why would this matter in a Rate The Race thread in a Nascar forum? The topic is obviously not football.
While I agree that this is not football, Towmater brought up the attendance first. I see Skoal merely bringing up the difference in attendance.

aunty, Cole Pearn had on a shirt? I missed that. LOL

Outside of having the race after Martinsville be another Martinsville race, there isn't/wasn't much hope for a decent event. Texas is the victim of that having to follow Martinsville not once but twice during the season. Short of a fistfight on pit road after the race, it'll probably never get a high rating.

Any 1.5 won't deserve to get a high rating until the cars are fixed.

Towmater brought up attendance at a race not a football game. It just seems way off topic to me to continuously interject football into racing discussions since there is no definable comparison to the two.

So did I. I learned about it and about proper attire at NASCAR events in the bonehead thread.
I know I always keep my shirt tucked in at the track otherwise, when I bend over to grab another Bud from the cooler..... Well, suffice to say, nobody wants to see that.

Delana's wife drove one hell of a race. It's on in Homestead, and if anybody thinks he doesn't have a shot, you haven't been paying attention. The fact that he ran that well without all of the Michigan wind tunnel business makes it all even more impressive. Don't tell Brad. He doesn't know yet.

You are an amateur plumber.

We’ve seen some of your work and you are quite correct... that’s all we want to see.

I noticed the cars twitching a bit, they run them to the edge. I can't imaging the heat they had to deal with (early winter here). A number of top teams had trouble. One recovered but the rest had a bad day. It looks like three teams will be competing for a good points day next week (unless one can pull off a win).

Looks like I dodged another dog of a race. Spent the second half watching football with friends and teams nobody cares about up here. Sounds like I didn't miss much.

2, Harvick winning was a plus, otherwise .2 The remote got a workout yesterday between the NFL, NHL, and nascrap -- nascrap gets muted with nbc. 1.5 yawn milers are

Knock down the banking at one end of the track.
Make them use the brakes and accelerate out of the turn.

Absolute snoozer for the first 250 laps, then it got better as the groove wided out. Still better than the first Texas race..

btw.: I'm still waiting on someone to give it a 10 and say "Woohoo, we had Old-School racing again!"

Yep, that is exactly what Texas did. Repaved tracks often suck, and Texas certainly has a single fast groove, but the reconfiguration gave us a track that is treacherous and difficult. That made for a fascinating race... entering turn 1 at 200, then braking to 150 or less, then accelerating to 205 down the backstretch.

Passing was hard due to the single groove, but numerous cars made their way from the back to the front. It's not supposed to be easy. My rating... 8.25. That includes a quarter-point extra credit for the great recovery by the 2 car, scratching and clawing for a longshot chance at Homestead.

Also, the visor cam restart was brilliant. Sadly, Aroundgoes, Jabba, and LeFarte were worse than ever. Those three rate a Zero.

whew Larry you can tell you didn't watch five minutes of the race, that is probably the longest time Jabba and crew didn't explain the different banking change.

I wrote to go to flat track not what they have now.
And unfortunately I saw about 90% of it.
Mostly on mute.

They don’t have to.

Racing evolves. It’s the nature of the beast.

Well seeing how the cars are going at that speed and the racing sucks, I'd say they have to. I'll again state that traveling at speeds over 200mph is detrimental to Nascar racing on a 1.5 mile track. The cars need to be slowed down, this aero dependent package is doing Nascar no favors at the moment, which is pretty much is self evident by the attendance yesterday at the track.

State it as many times as you like.

The venues you don't like are worth hundreds of millions of dollars and have lengthy contracts for their events. The fleets of racecars built to suit those venues are worth hundreds of millions more. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the kinds of changes you would like to see.

Go to one of many of the short tracks in your area. Enjoy.

Especially when a piece of tape can get the win. It has nothing to do with what Blayne did, how did one peice of tape run Truex down that fast? You are supposed to overheat if you have to much tape. Any ideas?
