With the Homestead race left to go, what is everyone's thought on Stage Racing?

I'll be honest, I thought it was boring. I thought it actually made racing worse because of the break in the flow of a race with the green-checkered followed by a yellow flag. To me it didn't seem to really improve racing all that much.

I originally thought it'd be a bad idea but I like stage racing. Just needs a few tweaks and would be alot better. Less time in between stages would be one. I also think it takes a bit of strategy away with mostly everyone pitting after a stage but it has also created some interesting strategies from a few CC. Also wish the Playoffs or Championship race should be stageless to distinguish it from the regular season more.

I don't like the caution laps counting, ideally I'd like to see it stay green and just award the points on that given lap. But I understand that restarts bring more "drama".

I don't think the stage format has made for less or shorter commercial breaks during green flag runs as it was promised to do.

IMO stages are a gimmick and therefore unnecessary. If they had increased attendance and viewership I could see why they would be deemed important but seeing they haven't they are just unnecessary stoppages.

2016 Phoenix..51minutes regular and split screen commercials. 2017 Phoenix 48 minutes for both.Pretty close to the same number, but you get to see more racing with the change. There has been some different strategy's played out because of the stages. I like the restarts, it breaks up the race.

As soon as they announced it I was saying the breaks were a terrible idea. Just make the end of the stages known pre race, award the points while green and allow for the more traditional green flag stops.

I will say that the stage points in the playoffs were HUGE for guys like Chase Elliott. He basically made the final 8 on those due to the fact that he started every round in a hole.

Stages are scheduled yellow flags.
For me, the introduction of stages was the last straw. I won’t watch a race with stages. I’ll check to see who won after the race but I have no interest in watching cars go around in circles waiting for the yellow to come out.
Not a fan of the stick n ball playoff BS, either.
I have better things to do on the weekends.
I got more done on my backyard this year than any other year since I’ve been here.

Doesnt improve the racing. Is an attempt at more wrecks with hectic restarts. More yellow flags, more pace laps, more commercials, less actual racing.

All it is, is NASCAR’s attempt to make a ridiculous points format seem to be about consistency when it is still a race by race sham.

A wet bandaid barely holding onto the skin.

Didn't move the needle much for me. Wouldn't miss them if they were gone, wouldn't care if they stayed. The stage points/wins mean nothing to me as I haven't paid attention to points of any kind in years.

I have seen the stage racing completely turn off some long time fans ... I have yet to see any new fans show up because of it.

Since the playoffs aren't going away, I like it. The regular season champion is all but guaranteed a spot at Homestead and the top five in points also have a much better shot to make it in the final four.

Didn't like the idea at first but don't mind it now.

We will see who ends up champion. I hope it blows up in Brian’s face like a cowpie through a fan blade.

Brian is safe this year ... no matter who wins the cup. The best opportunity for it to go wrong was when no-neck showed up at Homestead looking to win the thing. The final four this year is a pretty strong group. Maybe a back marker will win the race ... but it won't really matter

Yeah. It doesn’t matter to me...anymore.

Really can't see anything that Brian can do now except piss off ''old time racers''....... and there's no way for him to bring in ''new fans''..... they aren't interested because they aren't gearheads....... their attention span is low because they are more worried about social media...... what we have now is a low spot compared to the all time high and it's just going to spiral downward to ......... I don't know what the baseline level is....... I guess when all us old geezers die...... and the only ones that will level it out is the few of our kids that still support the sport..... There's a lot of younger ones on the boards that I see that are pretty adamant....... that's good......

You guys are the future of the sport and the ones that determine the balance...... without you younger fans.... Brian will have go from living the high life and drinking the best Whiskey....... to downsizing ......... drinking MD 20/20........

I am one of the long time fans that isn't happy

It needs some tweaks but it added something to the races. And with the way Truex punched himself a ticket to the Final Four on stage wins, I think other drivers are going to race for those stage points a little harder next year.

Get rid of them in Xfinity and Trucks though. And while at it, get rid of the ****** playoffs in Trucks.

Oh, and quit sending the Trucks to the Brobs.

Why throw a friggin' caution??????? Ain't Nascar up with technology enough to see who crosses the line first, second and so on that they can let the race continue??????? Why do they have to throw an Ice Cream and cookie break?????????

It’s comical that a guy with three wins and 750 laps led has a shot at beating a guy with seven wins and over 2000 laps led.
That’s what this “sport” has become.
Crazy stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be right with the world......... Truex should already have locked up the Championship......... and it's a very good possibility he might end up 4th......

What is the Brobs?

I couldn't care less about whether a race was on or not all year long, so I'm gonna say stage racing was the gimmick that finally killed my spirit for Nascar.
But did you like the stage racing?, did you feel it made the racing better?
