Did Kyle Larsen back out of it at Homestead?

^I equated it Gordon having the dominant car, as the context I quoted. Gordon had the best car, and Alan G. apologized for losing that race to the team.

Not applicable in the context of this thread.

Just my opinion, of course.

Lol what the hell?

He all but dominated that race, he had the car to beat all night. Pulled it into the pits late on a failed tire strategy.

The man said it himself.

We dominated that race, had a car that I think could have and should have won that race. But we all came in and got four tires, they throw the green, and caution comes out in three or four laps. We stay out, and I think we went one more round of green-flag run, four or five laps, and caution comes out again.

"At that point, that's where the race changed for us and really took us out of contention, because we decided to stay out, and all those other guys decided to come in, and there were just too many cautions at the end."

Stop being a troll.
^ How does this equate to Mr. Gordon “mailing it in”?
Too me, that all reads like failed pit strategy due to the unexpected cautions.

The subject matter concerns a driver or drivers mailing it in for whatever reason by their own actions.

Strategy failures do not play into that.

So is everyone in agreement Gordon never pulled over to let someone win?

It's time to bring back the 'doesn't care anymore' threads.

I think you better go back and see which quote you need to be posting because you just nailed my point.

I wrote right away that NASCAR told them to back off and not stink up the show.
Maybe next year they will payhim back, allowing a little speeding on pit road or such.

NASCAR can be scanned just like every race team, if NASCAR actually said that it would be on every National Sports show in the country. Didnt happen.

Yeah sure.

If you believe that why watch?

The only time I have even heard of that is when the bobble head that was on Sirius speedway admitted Richard Childress told Mike Skinner to let Earnhardt Sr win a race or be fired.

That was not a NASCAR deal but a Richard Childress deal.

I'm pretty sure Bobby Hillin Jr mailed it in a few times but you would know more about that than I do.

Or mebbe it was Trevor Boys ... the mind wanders.

I guess, to answer your question, the sane reason people watch wrestling, or any "reality show".

I guess he will never know if he could have passed them, because he chose not to try.

Kind of depressing that. Always thought that kid was always on go.
I'm surprised too. If that is all true.
I'm sure we can name one hundred drivers who would go for the win and several who would have wrecked them for the win.
Or even just for second.

Sounds to me like he was just letting the Championship drivers let it play out between them........ he knew he wasn't in the big picture.... so.... why try to muddle up the mess.... I respect him for that.... he could see all this playoff crap is a farce....... didn't want his name being brought up as the one who wasn't racing for the Cup but wrecked Kyle or Truex to get a win..... and decided the Championship that way..... I can see exactly where he was coming from.......

This is the problem with the chase. A driver should be going for the win when he has the opportunity and NOT be afraid of ruining someone else day.

Was never a Larson fan. Have to give him full marks. No doubt in my mind he could have won that race. Showed real class. Not like in the Busch race. Showed you can race and respect what's on the line during the last race. Back in the day, drivers understood that.
