The Walking Dead - Season 8

Finally had the chance to see Talking Dead from this week and its sneak-peak at next weeks episode.

All's I got to say is I'll be grabbing my popcorn and getting into my seat early for next weeks episode. Damn!

Yep. It's going to be a biggy.

The strangest thing about this MSF just happened. TSDFs who have spoiled every episode, even spoiled Abraham and Glenn's death, have decided not to spoil this episode.

Mid season finale tonight! :D

Pumped but subdued. Can’t wait to watch but the Steelers/Baltimore game gets priority. Another night game for the Steelers will have me watching WD on Monday morning.

I zonked out after supper, beef stew followed by apple pie. Woke up at 9:40 and was lost for the rest of the show. Watched t talking dead and got a better idea but I'll be watching today also.
Carl? Bub-bye?!

Chandler Riggs reached out to the TSDF not to spoil this episode. They honored his request and as a member of the group, I'm proud of them for doing that.

BTW.. Chandler referred to this season as 'one of the last few seasons of the show'. I think that's true. I believe 10 seasons at most.

Thought I saw somewhere that they had the 0k for filming up into 2019.
When did Caaaarl get bit?

I believe that would be season 10?

Carl was bit when he and Siddiq were putting down some walkers.

Rats, I missed it. I really like that show too. I think the regular NCIS will suffer when "Abby'' leaves and I never got in step with NCIS. NO,

I miss Haddie. It is not the same without her. I don't care for her replacement.
NCIS has lost too many good characters. When Abby is gone, it will have lost too much.. Ziva, DiNozza, Ducky, Abby. :(
NCIS: NO never had any compelling characters. I watch it because there's not much else in that time slot.

I miss Kate. Ziva was good but she was no Kate. :)
I worked with a guy who was like DiNozzo, a gigantic PITA. Only watched his show Bull a few times. Won't make that mistake again.
Is it Haddie or Hettie? In any case I though both she and Ducky were coming back?
Feel the same as you about NCIS NO

You're right. s/b Hettie because her name is Henrietta.
I think Bull is excellent... and original which is hard to find these days.

People are taking the Carl loss way too hard.....

Walking Dead petition demands AMC to fire Scott Gimple

They act like teenagers. They might be teenagers.

On the other hand, I do think Gimple is killing TWD... too much Negan for me.
I can't help but wonder if the end of Carl may help facilitate the end of Negan.

I've never seen or picked up the WD Comic Book so I have no idea what anyone's role is in that publication. Only knowing Carl from the show, I am hard pressed seeing his contribution to the story. He seems more like a red shirt character than most of them. Especially for as long as he's been in this series. We've lost far more characters that played a much larger role in this series to date.....

Bye Carl.

The people who read the comics say it is a HUGE deviation from the story plot. Carl was the future. He was to take over for Rick. The next story arc he played a big part in the introduction of another group. This group is very evil and set on their territory. They have no interest in having friends outside the group. Anyone coming onto their territory will be killed. Carl fell in love with a member of that group. He lost his virginity. Negan also plays a part with what happens with the group and with Carl.

I can't tell you why Gimple killed off Carl without spoiling what happens to Negan.

Losing Carl is a biggy. I can't envision THW continuing without Rick. I can't see Daryl, Carol,, Michonne or even Ezekiel taking over his role. Negan taking over as the leader??????. Think that's when they'll lose me.

MSP?
I see AMC.com is airing the first 8 episodes of S8

Carl isn't gone yet ........ I expect that he will somehow be immune and will become breeding stock for the future of mankind.

Thankee Pat.
Kyle, how long do you think he'll last? I envision a episode mostly devoted to him maybe two but no more.

It makes sense to me if they wanted to go that route.. Rick could be immune because he was in a comma when all hell broke out. Then all the blood he gave Carl could have made him immune.

However, I think Carl dies soon.

He was voted the "worst actor on tv" a few years back ... so I doubt that many will have a fit if he kicks. I think they have something for him though .... maybe he will bite Negan or something equally as cool :lol2:

I am not happy about the fate of the Tiger though :(

I'm really bummed for Ezekiel because of the loss of Shiva. :(
As for Chandler, I never thought he was a bad actor. :idunno:

‘The Walking Dead’ Renewed for Season 9 with a New Showrunner
by Allison Keene January 13, 2018

AMC announced today that it has renewed The Walking Dead for Season 9 — no surprise — but there is a twist! Scott Gimple, who was serving as showrunner, will be moving to a new role as Chief Content Officer for the Walking Dead universe, including Fear the Walking Dead as well as any future brand extensions. Angela Kang, who has been a writer with the show since 2011 and a co-executive producer since 2013, has been elevated to showrunner for Season 9.

Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios, said in a press release today that,
“This is an enormously important day for the entire ‘The Walking Dead’ television universe. We are proud to acknowledge Angela’s significant contribution to the series and to set a clear path forward for a ninth season under her direction. Further, with gratitude and admiration, we also recognize Scott’s broad impact on, and leadership of, the content that fuels our TWD universe. Together, we will dream bigger and more broadly than ever before. I know I speak for Angela, Scott and everyone at AMC when I say thanks most of all to the fans and the many talented people who have helped AMC play ‘Dead.’”

Scott Gimple also commented that,

“‘The Walking Dead’ is a special show which started in an entirely different era of TV, and continues, in this new era, to confidently take chances to tell compelling stories that excite audiences and make them deeply connect with its characters, adapting Robert Kirkman’s brilliant comic book. As the show closes in on its tenth year, I’m honored to keep working with the talented, dedicated people behind and in front of the camera to make it all it can be, while expanding the world of ‘The Walking Dead’ with new narratives like ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ and a whole host of truly cool stories ahead. Angela is a big part of the heart and soul of ‘The Walking Dead,’ and I’m thrilled to help facilitate her vision of the show’s next era.”

<snip>

The Walking Dead has had many showrunner changes over the years, but Gimple’s reign has been controversial for many reasons. Our own Dave Trumbore wrote after the midseason finale (beware of spoilers) and the killing of a beloved character who lives in the comic, and questions about Gimple’s leadership of the show. So Gimple taking over the whole Dead universe may not be something fans are particularly excited about.

Ok people what's going on with this show?

I've been hearing a lot of super negative stuff from this show. I haven't started watching season 8 yet but I'm starting to think if it's even worth it?

This show has always gotten flak but it seems like this year it has gone overdrive. Even from the people who usually love the show. Has this show collapsed under it's own weight or overblown exageration?
