Seem kinda odd to me with teams teaming up with others that’s just weird lol.. Truex and them teaming of with Joe Gibbs I mean you should just call them all the same team..everybody getting help from hendrick .. woodbrothers with Penske lol.. I would go into the Penske shop and Blaneys car would be right there haha..

Well, yeah. Penske builds WB their chassis I do believe.
 
Petty will still have his own transport and team bus. #27 will be wrapped as #43 next season as a rental car.
Nascar will give RCR a few breaks in appreciation for helping keep the iconic car on the track and Bubba a ride.

Helping keep the 43 on the track, allowing Wallace to have a full time car, and helping another manufacturer enter the sport.

Isn't NASCAR rolling out the next gen car in 2020? If so, wouldn't '20 make more sense for a Dodge return? Seems kind of silly to spend so much R&D time just for one year of the Gen6 car when you can spend those resources on the Gen7 debut. Then again, maybe I'm wrong and there are advantages to getting their feet wet a year before the new car?

Logic, sure, the last time I heard someone from NASCAR talking about it, it sounds like they said it could 2019, or 2020, there was no set date for it just yet.
 
I was involved in a group chat with someone this week with what seemed complete knowledge of the situation and it was specifically stated that this alliance was all about 2019. I took that to mean that both sides want or expect things to be in place by 2019. But I agree 2020 is more logical.
 
If the teams or Dodge already know what the next generation car is going to be, I suspect they have already started work on it. No reason Dodge couldn't build it now and make a few modifications to bring it forward in 2019. Does anyone have an idea what the changes will be to Gen 7?
 
I can’t process a RCR Dodge Charger 3. The times are a changin.

Check out this magazine. The article about the latest test car (known as the X-3). It's a completely symmetrical race vehicle. They are experimenting with radiator, brake, and hood ducting and have a new spoiler design. There are numerous things being experimented with that will find their way on the Gen 7 vehicle. It's an interesting read. It starts on page 8.

Edited to add that RCR is the one involved in building this vehicle. So clearly Dodge already knows what's coming in the next generation race vehicle.
 
I misspoke earlier, they have a new splitter design, not spoiler. The current splitter is responsible for 25% of the overall downforce. The new design gets that number down to 10%. This car was shown to practically eliminate side force as well.
 
Very good article. I suspect the whole idea of this to bring the car back to the driver and yet keep today's speeds intact.

Spoke with my friend at FCA, he did in fact confirm a lot of what you have said so far, but only on the Dodge side, Dodge coming back is fact, their issue is this, the will not come back with a start up team, they want to come back with a team that can deliver them a championship. FCA is putting its focus back into its racing programs.

The part about RCR and RPM , as he said, putting the pieces in place, so things are happening , and he said, talks are talking place. He said something else but I am going to keep that to myself for the time being, just because of Reddit :D

Here is more about where Nemechek is going. Filling a seat vacated by Reddick who went full time for Jr. Reddick was sharing with Larson and Justin Marks for Ganassi. Nothing about Marks with this deal.

So, this is interesting. Is Reddick in the fold for Hendrick or Ganassi? I have a feeling Jaime Mac is going to get the boot within the next two years. Nemo or Reddick will be in line for that 1 car...
 
I'm a huge Kurt fan since forever, and I have to agree that he should be on nothing more than a one year deal. Their equipment hasn't been the best, but Harvick's found a way to make it work pretty good, and Kurt should too. I think he's lost some of the fire the past couple of years, so if he has any aspirations of racing into his 40's with a competitive team, this is definitely a make or break year. I hope he rekindles some of his former aggression.
 
One and done? Is 40 the new best before date for NASCAR drivers (yes I know, Harvick, Johnson...).

I think the trend is 90% salary driven, meaning the huge gap between what a 40 year-old established veteran will accept as payment vs. what a hungry 22 year-old will. I don't fault anyone regarding that, it's just reality.
