NASCAR Euro driver Jerry de Weerdt to compete in ARCA race at Daytona

De Weerdt, from Aartselaar, Belgium, finished 14th in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series ELITE 1 and 10th in the ELITE 2 divisions last season in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series and will drive the No. 39 Chevrolet for Patriot Motorsports in the ARCA Series season opener.
"The ARCA car I tested in is a former NASCAR Cup car with an engine following the ARCA rules,” de Weerdt said. “The big difference with the K&N Pro Series car is the drivetrain. The K&N car has 650hp, the ARCA car 750hp. Also the aero package is different."

Eight races ... five on FS1, three on FS2.

Daytona (Feb. 10 -- FS1)
Talladega (Apr. 27 -- FS1)
Charlotte (May 24 -- FS1)
Pocono (June 1 -- FS2)
Gateway (June 22 -- FS2)
Chicago (June 28 -- FS1)
Pocono (July 27 -- FS1)
Kansas (Oct. 19 -- FS2)

No broadcast listed for IRP, Iowa, Michigan or Toledo (races normally carried by Fox Sports).

Hopefully MAVTV is picking up the rest because this is, and I say this with no hyperbole, the most disappointing Fox broadcast schedule yet.

The following are listed on the Lucas Oil Racing TV website, which means they'll probably be shown on MAVTV:

Apr. 7 -- Nashville
May 20 -- Toledo
June 8th -- Michigan
June 15th -- Madison
July 14th -- Elko
July 21st -- Berlin
Aug. 19th -- Illinois State Fairgrounds
Sept. 2nd -- DuQuoin
Sept. 7th -- IRP
Sept. 15th -- Salem

No Salem spring race huh?
Its good that the series actually gets most of their races televised these days anyway. I remember when Toledo was the only real short track that got any TV time, and they only had about 10-12 races shown. Not that they are bad races, but ARCA at places like Michigan, Pocono, Chicago and Kansas are really boring compared to Salem, Elko, Toledo, etc...

I’m biased but god Toledo is one exciting short track. Fast with multiple grooves and tons of bumping

It would be something if they could get enough indoor races to have a winter off season midget series.

ARCA and MAVTV Motorsports Network Announce 12-Race Broadcast Schedule

Michigan to be first superspeedway broadcast for MAVTV

TOLEDO, Ohio (Jan. 26, 2018) - Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and MAVTV Motorsports Network announced today that MAVTV will televise 12 ARCA Racing Series, presented by Menards, race events in 2018.

"ARCA is a well-respected and highly professional stock car racing series," said MAVTV President, Bob Patison. "It is definitely a good fit for MAVTV. Adding more live coverage of the series in 2018 builds on the momentum started last year by ARCA and MAVTV."

Coverage begins Saturday night, April 7, with the first live broadcast from Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn. Live coverage is also scheduled for April 22 and September 15 from Salem (IN) Speedway; May 20 from Toledo (OH) Speedway;June 15 from Madison (WI) Int'l Speedway; July 14 from Elko (MN) Speedway; July 21 from Berlin (MI) Raceway; Aug. 19 from the Illinois State Fairgrounds; Sept. 3 from the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds and Sept. 7 from Lucas Oil Raceway in Brownsburg, Ind. The only event not scheduled for live broadcast will be the July 7 event from Iowa Speedway, which will air on a delayed basis.

The 12-race MAVTV broadcast schedule rounds out ARCA's 2018 telecast package, with the remaining 8 races scheduled for LIVE coverage on Fox Sports. Nineteen of the 20 ARCA Racing Series events in 2018 will be Live.
The ARCA Racing Series first aired on MAVTV in the early 2000s, with delayed coverage from Salem.

"The relationship formed last year between ARCA and MAVTV has been nothing but positive," said Mark Gundrum, Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Partnerships for ARCA. "From our teams, to our fans, to our sponsors, everyone at ARCA is excited about our partnership with MAVTV, and this announcement only adds to that excitement."

The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series welcomes another new team for the 2018 season.
The Italian squad Solaris Motorsport switches from GT Racing with Aston Martin to Euro NASCAR. The team will field the #12 Chevrolet which is driven by Francesco Sini in the ELITE 1.
"The car is awesome and we love the fact that there’s a lot of people at every event, plus the series has a fantastic cost-effective formula. Everywhere else in racing money has become the only thing that matters, but in NASCAR we can still find that passion for the sport that drives all of us at Solaris Motorsport.”

I’m watching it, in between flipping channels. I believe StandOnIt is watching too

They are really having to drive the cars in and out of corners, the rear ends are dancing around all over the place.

Didn't believe it at first lol. When they mentioned him on the broadcast, i decided to look him up on racing reference, oh and only 3 laps led

At least he's doing what he loves...even if he isn't very successful.

Though I am confused. How can he have a ride, yet last years champion doesn't? Are you only allowed to race in Arca until you win a championship?

Lack of funding when it’s time for him to move up through the ladder, unfortunately.

Decker looks smooth so far.

( I am about 30mins behind live though)

That's unfortunate. When he got into the booth, I assumed he wasn't racing because he had moved up to the trucks. Apparently that's not the case. It's tough when a champion can't even find a ride.

Lol, that wreck almost looked like what I do on Dirt to Daytona when I lose the draft. Just wreck someone on purpose so a caution comes out allowing me to catch back up.

Silly me for actually thinking this was going to be a good race. Arca at Daytona typically doesn't produce much good racing.
