Do we have a prediction thread going yet?
I like the 11 to win the 500 this year. I just don't think the Chevy's will have the speed yet with the new car and the Ford's won't be able to match the Toyotas. So of the Toyota drivers, I like the 11 best because I don't think the 18 has very many friends, and I just don't see the 78 being out front yet.

How many friends does the 11 have?

Ford won all the SS races last year.

Slightly more than the 18.
Yes the Ford's won the SS races last year but I don't think they can repeat that.
They do seem to have the most rounded/aerodynamic nose at this point, but without seeing the actual data, looks can be deceiving!

I must have missed your prediction. Who do you have winning the 500?

Is the speedway afraid that it won’t sell out that they have to give away tickets? Busch is giving out 500 tickets, Chevy is giving at least 200, tv stations in Florida about 100, radio stations at least 100, newspapers about 10, and bud gives me about 10 on the day of the race.

That's not the speedway giving away those tickets It's the sponsors promoting their products.

I remember my first Busch race in '95. GM was the sponsor, and reps were handing out free tickets in the parking lot. The next year GM dealers gave out two free Busch tickets with every oil change.

They get them at a discount which is usually 25% off the value of ticket. Sometimes it’s b2b but don’t think since it’s a major event. The last number I was given was in 2008 where they only gave out 1250 tickets in 160k capacity. Rumor is they gave out 3k tickets last year in 100k capacity.

There's a big difference between a 25% discount and giving them away. The tracks make better deals than that quite often. Check this link below out.

Of course the fact that he produced results at every step along the way means nothing does it?
