2018 - Daytona 500 - Pre Race Thread

WOW these cars are low! I hope this is with the tire pressures as low as they go because if they come out with less they won't have rear quarter panels after a lap!!

Line up by points.

Wow I knew DW dyed his hair but never realized how much

Just wish we could go to more of a slingshot style of racing than the packs. I do enjoy restrictor plate racing as it’s like chess, but boy that 90s slingshot style was awesome

Hahaha. I had a stroke a while back and I still get a miss on a couple of cylinders so if someone is wanting to say something to me they best say it to me instead of making a comment to no one. I appreciate what you did there.

I wasn't sure you were aware of the alert feature !! No doubt that posts that aren't quotes are irritating though.

So increase plate openings to allow for up to 230mph.
As interesting as it would be to see them open up the plates at least a little, I don't think they can for track insurance purposes. I read last year that IMSA is required to keep the prototypes under 200 MPH there even though those same cars and drivers can go run over that at Le Mans.

Long-term effect of the Larson and Dillon wrecks, probably.

Why do the cars look like there sideways going down straight away?I hate that, it's stupid.

I don't pay much attention to anything Nascar during the off season. Can't believe it's back on already tomorrow. I'm sure they will have some stupid drawing video explaining all the nonsense they changed.

At Daytona it makes a difference if you are a fan of Thursday's qualifying races. Even though the charters have removed some of the suspense. Back in the day it was always exciting to see who might get into the 500. It was not unusual for drivers who did not normally or had never run NASCAR, make an attempt.

I think they attendance Thursday is going to be very sparse. The stands used to be packed.

It isn't back in the day anymore. It doesn't work to send sponsors home for one reason. Another is since 2016 the field is at 40 with 36 chartered cars.

one can only imagine if Jabba Burton and the other two stooges would be trying to out talk each other about the car right now. Rick Allen...AND THE CARS ARE ON THE GROUND!

Byron’s 24 car is a sight to behold. Best paint scheme of 2018 IMO.
