NFL 2018-19

No matter what rule they come up with it's always going to be open to interpretation. It's kinda like defining pornography. You know it when you see it. A catch is a catch when the ball is caught..... period. Start using common sense again and we'll be just fine. Dissect the video to the extent of the Zapruder Film and we're right were we've been at for far too long now.

People will always be Zapruderin both types of video....

The new helmet rule will benefit player safety, but it may mess with the flow of the game. Who cares about dementia and severe brain damage if it means your viewing experience is compromised...wtf.

Football was meant to be violent, pussifying the sport is ruining it. I'm all for safety, but what this is going to do is pretty much eliminate the running game. On every running play a penalty could be called with this new rule, it's ridiculous and like you said the flow of the game will suffer. It's going to be replay after replay, longer games, it's going to hurt the game.

How about nascar makes a rule that you can't bump anyone, because it could cause a wreck which might hurt someone. Actually let's ban cars altogether since they cause so many deaths. Also let's ban sexual intercourse because there's a chance you could spread an STD.

But but but football players are forced to play against their will for no money. They should just play flag football instead and wrap their bodies with pillows. Because everyone knows the current rules will cause dementia and severe brain damage for all the players. Don't worry, the fans will love flag pillow football

Nascar did make significant changes and deaths have stopped. Dementia is an epidemic for former players.

It has been known for at least a few years that lasting physical injury and brain trauma can occur due to playing football. If these are concerns for parents of kids or of young men then do something safer like lawn bowling or even Nascar where a guy like Derrike Cope can race around and not even chip a nail. If I could turn back time and I had the talent to play pro ball I would do so in a heartbeat as I would rather live and and play the game I love as opposed to existing and doing something I would rather not.

What they need to do is put more emphasis on proper tackling form at the lower levels. Have a penalty like this in Pop Warner and high school ball, so these kids will already have it ingrained in them by the time they get to college. Until the NFL hires full time refs that can prove their competency, adding more rules relying on judgement calls is a terrible decision. It might make the game 1% safer for a couple guys, but at what cost? Quite frankly, I think the NFL is just sick of former players trying to sue them because they are broke and want a second shot to cash in long after their playing days are over. The whole CTE thing is low hanging fruit. It's not the NFL's fault that head injuries exist. Freedom of choice is a beautiful thing.

They should spend more time/money developing better helmets. Make the game safer if it makes sense, but don't trash it up with more rules and penalties because you want to APPEAR to be making it safer.

Spot on I totally agree.

If they truly wanted to make the game as safe as possible without letting the refs ruin it, they would eliminate the kickoff altogether. Yes, it will suck to see it go, but if it's really true that 70% of concussions occur on kickoffs, then quit neutering it with dumb rule changes and just get rid of it completely.

Also, if the Riddell "360" is the safest helmet on the planet, why haven't they made it mandatory for all players? Other manufacturers need to be pushed to make something as good or better. If they can't, well congrats Riddell, you are now the exclusive helmet provider for the NFL, NCAA, and all high schools across the country.

Watching the Titans new uniform reveal. I like the navy blue helmets, but the jerseys are.....:bleh:

?
The guy is unbelievably good
I believe the long-term value of taking a RB that high is not that good. Short shelf life. A QB can give you well over a decade and are much more vital to the offense as a whole. You can platoon/running back by committee/whatever at RB with lower round picks.

Plus, if you go RB that high, you should be prepared for "win-now" mode...which we're not ready for. Eli is done soon. Is Davis Webb the QB of the future?

Edit: I'd have gone Rosen

You know as an Eagles fan I like that we are picking last, but also know watching all this is a waste of time since we are going to probably trade back.

I personally am not impressed with Rosen. Reminds me of Hackenburg.
I only watched three of his games last year but I generally thought he was pretty good. I don’t believe in Darnold or Allen though. USC were on national TV all the time and Darnold always looked erratic.

The only QB I really liked in this draft was Mayfield.

I think Barkley is going to be a stud. I think he's a huge difference maker. He's not just a dynamic runner, but he's a great receiver.

Barkley is extremely overrated IMO. He is GREAT in open space, but he's not a traditional between the tackles RB. Honestly I think Sony Michel is the better player.

There are sooooo many good RB's in this draft, I don't understand taking Barkley so high when there are 7-8 legit quality RB's you can get later

He'll be the next great NFL RB from Penn State, just like Blair Thomas, Ki-Jana Carter, and Curtis Enis. :p

Seriously though, I don't think he's as bad as those three, but taking him #2 overall is a bit questionable.

Not exactly sure how I feel about the Falcons pick just yet.....it could be a great thing but at the same time I hope they didn't miss out on someone they truly needed.

I expect more pick swaps from the Eagles at the moment we have 12 picks in the 2019 draft.
