Kurt raced Kyle's Toyota's Xfinity car when he had a team.

I doubt that this rumor has any truth to it. How do you have an alliance with a team that
is only running under an alliance with another major team.
RCR with Dodge would be a better idea. :biggrin:

The whole premise of this deal is just so far out there, that I can’t help but think it’s at least been talked about. But what Kyle said last night in his post race, then I saw that KBM deal on Twitter. I’d say there’s at least some smoke to that fire. I just can’t fathom that Kyle right smack dab in the prime of his career ( come at me but 08 KDB was also a beast) would jump from one of the if not the top team in NASCAR to try his own thing. If he does indeed do this, he’s got balls. Big time balls. I’ll be cheering for him every step of the way if this does indeed come true.

If true...hopefully they got a shop full of 28th place racecars...cuz watchin em wheel them into the playoffs will be somethin.

It’ll be something to witness JGR refurb a bunch of BK racing cars in a mad dash prior to 2019 lol
 
If Kyle is really dumb enough to do this Harvick might win 20 races next year
 
This would be Toyota's way of expanding and keeping the TRD drivers they don't want to lose in the coming years Bell, Gragson, Burton, Gilliland, Eckes they have a ton of talented drivers
 
It sounds ridiculous, but everyone wins.

Kyle gets his own team.
Kurt gets to race for his brother.
Truex gets a top ride in the 41.
Jamie Mac gets to stay in the 1.
Gibbs gets to plug a top young Toyota driver in the 18.

Yeah, I heard it. Can't get my head around it for a million different reasons. If true, this would be the most shocking thing TRD/Toyota related that I have heard ever. Frankly, if stuff wasn't so freaking weird with FRR--sponsor, driver, manufacturer--I would dismiss it immediately. However, something is not right there. Something is going on IMO. Add to that Moody saying that he has heard rumors that, if true, would turn the garage upside down....this would do that. The part that has me most reserved is that the jump from Trucks to a Cup operation would be massive. If this rumor is true, KBM would have to have been working on this for a very long time. Honestly, it seems pretty out there, but there are some pieces that fit.

I think the potential of FRR to SHR alliance is the most feasible of all of this. I get that Barney wants to wait for help to pay Martin, but why is he dragging his feet on the manufacturer contract? This might have some merit.
 
Frr is done if any of this is remotely true. No way he recovers from losing a major sponsor and starting from scratch with a new alliance. Most likely he throws sponsorship dollars towards haas and closes shop.

TRD and Toyota started in 2007 absolutely steadfast in not getting involved in drivers. Man, things sure have changed..... This is David Wilson's signature on this company IMO.

Kyle has sponsors, drivers and money, he's smarter than a lot of people give him credit for.

I would think Mars would be going with him as well as probably Nas since it’s one and the same with Monster. Would also think TRD/Toyota would be sponsoring him too.

Yep...while I'm surprised a little by this, I'm not shocked, it will turn the garage upsidedown if he gets Martin to go along with his brother...instant super team.
 
I won't say it isn't true, but it's also the same place that was convinced Hisense would be the new sponsor of the Premier Series only for the big announcement to be a new lineup of 70" TVs.

Seems like a big risk for Kyle to take at the peak of his career, and pretty major upheaval for JGR/TRD. But I also don't think the FRR situation is as good as Barney wants us to believe. The statement denouncing "garage rumors" of their closing was weird.

That’d super cool to race with your brother, like who in their position wouldn’t want to do that? Gosh more power to them if this works out
 
This would be a great move overall for the sport. Need to get younger owners into the series.

Have to think for this to make sense from Kurt's side he'd have to get a piece of the team.

it was once before in Xfinity. It's a thinly veiled factory truck team in the trucks, I don't think they need him in cup so I doubt there would be much support coming from across the pond, the preacher is the ultimate yes man.
 
So what do y'all think Matt Kenseth's fate is after this season?

Yep. At Reddit, people claiming to have "sources" and "contacts inside the garage" are thick as fleas on a hound dog, and most of them are pure fantasies. That doesn't prove any given post is bogus, but my guess is this one is bogus. There are too many pieces of the puzzle ignored or glossed over to have even one gram of credibility with me.

My only thing with that is my God the 6 car is a junker. Why would Kenseth want to struggle in that thing? If he wants to race a few more years, perhaps holding the 41 car (assuming Truex stays in the 78) for a years for Custer makes more sense.
