Deegan Won Again

I hope she finishes Sonoma with the fenders on it is about all of the expectations I have for her there this weekend. Virtually no experience on a paved road course. Now if it was dirt?

When is the Sonoma race? I don't see it on the K/N Schedule.

I just hope she doesnt get in the dirt at Sonoma. Being pavement, this track will challenge the heck out of her.

I've been very critical of Hailie because of her non-West performance, but she ran really well in a half decent 26 car field last year at Sonoma

No, because success in one series does guarantee success at the next level up, and certainly not at the top level.
Don't think anyone is saying that. At all.

Rather, just applauding her for her success at her current level. That other poster was the one who said, in a nutshell, kill the hype.. it's not impressive and doesn't mean she'll succeed at cup.

Maybe not. That doesn't mean we can't applaud her and be wowed, which is what he seemingly was taking issue with.

To think kill the hype the 17 year old won't succeed in cup or that K&N doesn't have any competition, could be true statements, I have said a number of times that a move up to the truck series would be the next step for Deegan, but that gets overshadowed by all of the negative hype. :D I do think it is going to happen though, she like many others want to move up. Does she have an advantage because she is a cute little girl who plays the media like a fiddle, yep she sure does. Will there be plenty of butt hurt about it, oh yeah they will. I don't think for a minute she is going to set racing on it's tail, bottom line for me is how well it helps the series and she is fun to root for and watch.

Good post, even if I disagree with some of it. Deegan is taking her NASCAR career slow. Contrast her with decker, who I feel went up too soon. Deegan is doing it right, the way I wish Patrick would have done. racing in several series before moving. She is more about the racing, IMHO than decker, more focused. She comes from a racing family, has a father who has experience with fame and racing success. She has raced since she was a kid. She is always racing something which shows a commitment not to be a social media star but to actually be a race car driver.

Sure, she posts the odd glamour social media post, but she IS a kid. I want to see Deegan in a truck at Eldora. I think thats the next logical step.

She is winning and is not afraid to drive aggressive. .

I dont think she WANTS to sit racing on its tail, she just wants to win simple as that, and her gender is side note for her. I have watched her carrer and she seems to be me the least likely to exploit her female-ness in the racing world out of her and decker and even Patrick. Julia landuaer (sp?) tried to use her female-ness to land a sponser buit it didnt really work.

Decker on the weekends she is not racing can be found on IG posing, and deegan can be found in her off road truck trashing around, testing off road tires with her old man. Shes putting the time in. Skys the limit.

I believe they said Deegan is starting on the pole for Sonoma. ;) crow feathers.

Hailie Deegan wins pole for K&N West race at Sonoma
Hailie Deegan won the pole for today’s K&N Pro Series West race at Sonoma Raceway, claiming her fourth career K&N West pole and her second of the year.

Deegan earned the pole with a speed of 91.105 mph around the road course. It’s her second pole this year.
out qualified:
Xfinity Series driver Noah Gragson qualified second. The top five is completed by Xfinity Series driver Cole Custer, Cup driver Ryan Preece and Jagger Jones.

Natalie just seems like she wants to be an IG model that drives racecars as a side deal. Julia Landauer wasn't bad but just not... marketable or something?

She is entered tonight. The race will be shown on Fans Choice TV

Douglas County looks like a really nice area and the venue is very cool from what I've seen. Covered grandstand as well.

While 15 cars isn't great, it's better than last year, this track was never a huge car count getter even in the popular days.

Hope to see this track back in 2020 but we'll see with the new structure.

She's certainly different.

She's not worried about being cool and making friends. She wants to improve and win races, sounds cool to me.

WOW. she fired shots to me at decker. "Are you at the track just to look good or improve?"

She ran a good race. She had a second place car, but the outside lane on that little one lane bull ring was miserable.
Yeah they used her up pretty good on that start but she kept her head and drove back up through there. Nice finish.

I thought it was fair though, I didn't see anybody cheap shotting each other on any of the restarts. Respect on all sides.
Oh I agree, no cheapshots but they made sure she wasnt gonna get down. Racing like it should be.
