Toyota/Save Mart 350 Monster Energy Cup Series Pre-Race thread

Okay, the Cup list is up. 38 teams entered. I may be missing their names at first glance, but for the first time in years I don't see anyone who could legitimately be described as a 'road course ringer'.

The modern 'road course ringer' myth was finally buried with AJ's blown engine after a missed shift at Sonoma last year. imho

I asked Andy Lally on Instagram (he is very engaging), and he said that he was saddened that he was unable to get a ride this year, he was looking forward to running the carosel.

With all the talk of NASCAR/IndyCar doubleheaders, why not an NHRA/NASCAR doubleheader since NASCAR is using the drag strip at Sonoma again? Lmao

I'm being mostly sarcastic here...

Might as well toss in a driver swap while we're pipe dreaming ...

Just watched the replay of Big E passing Mark Martin in the carousel for his road course win. Man was I grinning after that, it proved he could win anywhere.I sure miss that old guy.

90's are scheduled for Sonoma, CA on Saturday & Sunday. Ouch. I was hoping for 80's at least. At least they don't have a BS food and drink policy like LVMS does.

Thinking of wandering around quite a bit Friday then going from there. Gotta check out "The Point" new viewing area that is open to fans. Have Turn 9/Row 19 seats for Sunday.

Cannot wait to see that gleaming multi-colored stream of corporate paint schemes race past the cameras on the opening lap!

road racing is so different from other things they do.
From sears point, but you get the idea.

Benny Parsons and Ned Jarrett were a good team. Those pedal cams were too cool. The switching between left and right foot braking would not be something I would be good at how he kept his rhythm was amazing.

We skipped this weekend's race. 90 degree ambient isn't bad. But humans don't have gills, and Cali doesn't have this kind of problem....Friend at the track posted this.

Dude was passing people in the dirt at Riverside. #RoadCourseChops.

The pass in the grass gets so much attention... & rightfully so... but I always enjoyed Earnhardt going through the dirt against bodine a ton more. This is one of the best battles car racing has seen...

If you're not staying close make sure to leave by 6 or 7 AM, just like 2013

Negatives so far:

- Fan Midway, NASCAR needs to increase the tents/givaways/simulators/even a couple more trailers, would get fans more engaged, don't know why iRacing isn't here at these tracks.

Positives

- Carousel viewing area is awesome
- Some nice shaded areas

Are you eating carnival food?

Is there a wine tasting tent? :D

looking like 89 with 10-15 mph winds. Should be pretty warm. Makes for a slick racetrack. Should be a good show. We will be heading in Sunday at 5am.

KyBu hunting cones and complaining about having to turn his car around after missing a turn.

Mandatory operable windshield wiper -- if it doesn't work in Victory Lane are you DQ'd?
