Clip/save: With Cup cars having all practice & qualifying Saturday at Chicagoland, cars to be impounded after qualifying. Lineup not official until tech Sunday morning. Cars that don’t pass on first try have times disallowed & official starting spot behind all those who pass.

Will men be dancing with their wives in Chicago?

First time NBC hasn't kicked off with July Daytona right?

Has anyone noticed the season isn't really split in half with the networks? NBC is getting 20 races including the playoffs and championship. Pretty lopsided. I guess they consider the All-Star Race and Clash/Duels as equalizers?

Chicagoland was the NBC opener last year I believe.

Kinda wish with the new package this would be a night race, better for fans as well

I’m still on the fence about going Sunday. It’s going to be hot I think but I don’t want to be a crappy fan since the track is legit 20 minutes from my house. They really screwed the pooch on moving it from a decent weather date and back to summer with no Cup night race. I sat through enough races here where it was hot enough you could pass out, but that was fun in my high school years , college years and 20’s. Now in my thirties I say F that.

I agree it's BS this isn't a night race. But if the food and drink policy isn't a joke then go.

You guy's are cracking me up with the change to NASCAR on NBC and Rick Allen avatars.

We are now about an hour away from the track. I was hoping someone would convince me that I should go. I went a few years back and it was "just ok" in my book. I am with you regarding the heat. Even though we are from Florida, sitting in the hot sun in the stands is not a favorite pastime.

So the 2 chartered Rick Ware cars are TBA's, and they have a 3rd unchartered car with a driver.
Unchartered rides are cheaper to buy. Those cars earn at a rate substantially lower than chartered cars.

I rather doubt that BJ McLeod is in that car based on his skillset.

I am happy to have NBC back, yeah, I know, unpopular opinion, but I feel they do some things better than FOX Sports.

Technically, the Firecracker 400 is on the weekend after the 4th, so it still is in Daytona for the 4th of July
I didn't want to ruin the parade, he was on a roll. I thought he would figure it out sooner or later. And a huge Fireworks show is planned for the race also.

until I have to listen them call a race. I have the aspirin bottle on the ready.
I understand and get why a lot of people don't like the booth, and a lot of times, I am right there agreeing that the booth can be hard to listen to at times, for me, I like that its just different from FOX.

:laugh::laugh:, my bad for doing that then.

that's a great point. So it's just the turning over to NBC that changes, not the schedule (yet). Thanks for pointing that out!!

This race used to be the weekend after the Pepsi 400 in Daytona and after was New Hampshire

The nbc booth is just a cluster**** of unintelligible noise. They seriously need to give burton and letart a heavy dose of Ritalin or just give them the boot. Rick Allen is just a poor man joe buck, but last year he seemed to mellow out and step aside while the motor mouths kept making asses of themselves, so maybe he still salvageable.

Dale Jr is the best thing about NBC coverage, I thought he killed it last year... and then whatever random Dlist Celebrity/Athlete they can fill out of that week's race ( I love that unintentional comedy.)

Even Aldo the gimmicky track and field guy from a couple years ago is less annoying then Allen, Burton, and Letarte

That is correct. But way back in the day (1970s)they always ran the race on the actual 4th regardless of the day of the week. It usually started at about 10 am to help a little with the heat.

Here in SC the textile mills would shutdown for the July 4th week. So we always spent that day at my double first cousins house while I was growing up and listened to the MRN coverage on the front porch. We also actually watched the road traffic and pointed out favorite street cars as they drove by. The horses and covered wagons were okay but slow enough to be to easy and a little less interesting.

We really enjoyed the race on MRN, life was good. I was especially blessed and it was tougher times for the other male cousins than it was for me back in those days. Three of the cousins were girls, but l only had one sister, so my male cousins naturally had to face the most difficult questions or issues.
