Xfinity RACE thread --- Phoenix

Jeff Burton continues to disappoint.

“You just don’t have the grip with old tires that you have with new tires.” What is the correct response to that?
"Well, duh. Also, you can't go as far when the gas tank is getting empty as you can when they just filled it."

I don't think any other televised coverage tries so hard to 'educate' viewers. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't wind up condescending instead. And it's pretty much NASCAR only; commentators for Indy or IMSA either don't bother or do it in a less intrusive way. What little coverage I watch of other sports just assumes the audience knows what the heck it's looking at. I don't know if it's NASCAR requiring it or if the networks (Fox can be just as bad) are still doing this 20 years later because they think that many new viewers show up every week that need the entire sport explained to them. Honestly, guys, we all understand tight and loose; quit overusing those CGI 'cutaway cars', esp. during green.

NBC’s broadcast is for morons. I feel like my IQ drops 5 points every time I listen to those monkeys. The worst part, they all shout their nonsense at the top of the their lungs for 3 hours.

The production is pretty good though. Much better than FOX who is fresh off Todd Gilliland’s invisible win at Martinsville lol.
