RACE thread --- Daytona 500

At least on the final lap

Or it just results in more realestate on the raceway for drivers to feel obligated to block, so they swing their cars around with even less restrain than they already do. Idk, just playing devils advocate a bit. There will always be room for freak accidents, no matter the rules.

Idk if changing the yellow line makes a difference in the grand scheme of things.... It's probably fair to criticize the yellow line, and NASCAR's enforcement of it, in singular instances. And maybe it would've prevented this wreck, but in total it seems like opening Pandora's box imo. It's impossible to prove a negative, but how many wrecks has the double yellow line prevented over the years? How many more cars would get forced/blocked down onto the apron or into the grass if not for the yellow line?

Remember when people wanted Christopher Bell to replace Denny Hamlin in the 11? Lmao

Denny now has 3 of JGR’s 4 wins in this race, and all 3 of Toyota’s wins. He’s more likely to be adopted by Gibbs then ever to be fired by him

Him and Kyle are there for life, I think that's a no brainer.

Denny has come a long way since just a couple of years ago. He's already locked into the playoffs, and could very well be looking at another fruitful year. Doubt that he's gonna be one of those guys who wins the 500 and then curtails in performance for the remainder of the year.

One thing for sure, Denny doesn't have to worry about making the playoffs. That should make a difference on how that team races for the rest of the year. The way he raced go time was impressive and I don't even like the guy. Hard to beat on a SS track. I think the cup guys could take a billboard and a motor and go 200 with it.

Possibly, but the driver, at least in a situation like Monday, would have to make a choice of blocking two cars....or would have Blaney taken the shoulder low, Hamlin high, and Newman the center. At the point Blaney finally had a head of steam ti might have been a tad too late to make it all the way around Newman on the bottom....and Hamliin was really tapped out on the top at that time. So...it would have been very possible that all three would have crossed the line at about the same time.
