Chase Elliott

Body guard makes appearance today.

Look to his left, its the GA mountain man that wanted a piece of Denny at Martinsville.

What's not to love about Chase?

He's obviously super talented since he's the only guy winning races for Chevy the last couple years (he's got 6 wins and all other Chevy's combined have 5). Just imagine how dominant he will be when Chevy finally gets decent again.

Plus he's from Georgia.

Plus he's Awesome Bill's kid.

Plus he's not ugly like KB or Brad, so he can be the "face of NASCAR" because sponsors will actually make ads with close-ups of his face.

I don't think anyone else will win the favorite driver award as long as he's full-time in Cup Series.

Why does this sound like a texting conversation with a pre-pubescent girl in the food court at the mall?

Does anyone have worse luck? This is becoming comical, even though I'm far from laughing.

I'm not sure how the valve stem broke, I'm not sure know they either

More than likely the tire changer hit it with his air gun. Sometimes the driver starts to take off while the tire changer still has the gun inside the wheel opening, and as the wheel spins and the car moves forward, the gun will smack the valve stem. It's a rare thing, but it does happen from time to time. Being that saving 1/3 of a second wasn't so critical on the cars I worked on, I would always look for the tire changers to have the guns (and their hands) back out of the way a little more than NASCAR standards before dropping the jack. It sucks like hell if you're an Elliott fan like me, but it's just one of those things. Truthfully, I was a lot MORE upset about Matt D. running all over Byron on the final restart.

What a start to the season! We could very well be seeing some new, fresh, different winners this year! It was very, very cool to see the likes of Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, William Byron, and Alex Bowman actually taking it to the veterans for a change! It was very unlucky that none of them got a finish that reflected their efforts, but it shows that there is undoubtedly more to come from each of them.

Yeah I remember that happened to Harvick at Dover a few years ago in the playoffs

But which old man hasn't really struggled at all

I know this will sound like fan boy talk, but the six wins aside, I think Chase has kind of been under a bad luck cloud since he came to Cup. I feel like if that cloud ever lifts, he will win enough races to make many people not like him as much. I also agree that given competitive equipment, we may see a real changing of the guard soon. There are SEVERAL drivers that excite me about the future. No disrespect to Harvick, Joker, he's STILL getting it done.

I think this is his time to lift that cloud. If yesterday was any indication, rather than a false dawn, Chase, and Hendrick as a whole, all have a season of prominence ahead.

The young guns have shown some speed but not counting Erik Jones winning the Clash, and Byron winning Duel #2, our winners have been Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano lol. These young guys have always had speed but still keep finding ways to lose these races. Chase will get 3-5 wins though

Not like yesterday, though. Elliott aside (we've come to expect him to be a contender), it was nice to see more of them making their presence known up front.

He has all the makings to be a Jimmie Johnson light. Personality, results, etc. He's not the raw talent Jimmie was, but Chase may end his career with some very Smoke like numbers. I see 50-60 wins and 3 titles.

Anyone else more impressed with Bowman than Byron?

I'm super impressed with BOTH of them. If you force me to choose, I'll say when it's all over, Byron will be the better driver, but I don't think Bowman is all that far behind him. You also can't discount that he still has more actual Cup experience (even if it WAS in crap cars) than Byron. The fact that Jimmie is on his way out aside, I LOVE my driver lineup.

I have always said from the day Bowman came to HMS that he would be good. But I also think Byron is doing a pretty good job for no longer then he has been in a Cup car.
For Byron being in ANY car :D Bowman has more confidence as time goes on. Stuff like Dibinidetto did to Byron on the last restart comes from lack of experience on Byron's part. Bowman's advantage of being around much longer is that he has already had most of dirty tricks done dirt cheap pulled on him coming up thru the ranks. Stenhouse pushing the hell out of a Ford on the last restart is typical Stenhouse

Well, errrr, that's his fan base? The Kasy Kahne crow had to have somewhere to go....

Chase figured out how to lose another one and he can't blame anyone else.

If he doesn't pull off that pass he likely wasn't going to win anyway, so I don't think he lost the race, he just crashed when he should have finished second.

In all fairness, he didn't loose it. He was outdriven by a champion on a 5 lap shootout and then wrecked going for it. It's just short track racing

I think his team deserves better finishes than that. "All or nothing is not racing"
