NASCAR hasnt said but this probably ends any chance.

Northam issues statewide stay-at-home order effective through June 10
Update: Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued a statewide stay-at-home order that's effective immediately and will remain in place until June 10, unless the governor amends or rescinds it.

I think the governor is jumping the gun a bit on his June 10 guideline. That's over 2 months away. A lot can happen in just a week or two. You can always add to it if need be. Heck, the FDA is fast tracking a malaria drug that shows good signs on dealing with this. But you'd never know that watching the news.

Source, please, because the White House’s own scientists have repeatedly expressed strong doubts about the effectiveness of malaria medications. The subject has indeed been covered (and debunked) by the media regularly in the last two weeks; I’ve heard it on both commercial and public TV and radio. The only one on record saying malaria drugs may work doesn’t have a medical degree.

The White House scientists are giving people the worst-case scenarios so people won't be so careless. I get that. These models are only as good as the numbers that go into it, kind of like the weather models.

Regarding the drugs, I have seen several doctors interviewed that have been describing this medication with antibiotics have seen 100% recovery rate. One NYC doctor has prescribed this for over 600 patients, zero deaths. I think this is a good sign. Still more work to do, but I try to be an optimist.

Again, a source, please. One doctor’s results are a long way from FDA approval.

I think Virginia's governor jumped the gun. There is promise in the malaria drug, but it is being overhyped by the same media outlets that claimed this coronavirus thing was all a fake news hoax designed solely to take down the president. I'm still not buying the anecdotal evidence, because actual evidence is anywhere between the drug doesn't work at all to the drug is a 100% absolute cure. The truth is likely in the middle - it relieves symptoms and will save some lives.

Plus, there's data that backs up the theory that this virus doesn't thrive in hot and humid climates.

That said, this entire thing isn't about preventing the spread as much as it is about slowing it down so hospitals can handle it. Right now, they can't. And the concern is growing rapidly about what this is going to be like in Rural America.

The FDA did approve it.

There is also an HIV drug being tested, with good results so far, to treat those with severe lung problems brought on by the coronavirus. It opens up the air ways and helps the body to recover on its own like it's supposed to.

Thanks for the Fox article. Personally, I don't trust Oz any farther than I can spit. If you've caught him in the last couple of years, he changes direction more often than Road America.

Yep China has had good results and it is part of their treatment and has been for awhile

Novartis has pledged to donate 130 million doses and is supporting clinical trials needed before the medicine, which U.S. President Donald Trump also has been promoting, can be approved for use against the coronavirus.

Other companies including Bayer and Teva have also agreed to donate hydroxychloroquine or similar drugs, while Gilead Sciences is testing its experimental drug remdesivir against coronavirus.

"Pre-clinical studies in animals as well as the first data from clinical studies show that hydroxychloroquine kills the coronavirus," Narasimhan told the newspaper. "We're working with Swiss hospitals on possible treatment protocols for the clinical use of the drug, but it's too early to say anything definitively."

Just looking at simple data I think the beginning of June is the best case scenario and the end of August is more realistic

Oh, of that I have no doubt, but not by Memorial Day in the US. I'll be delighted to be proven wrong.
Personal opinion I think the sooner a vaccine can be made the better. That’s obvious. I don’t think Memorial Day either. I’m thinking end of 2nd quarter if these possible cures need to be fast tracked, as for when sports pick back up and a sense or normalcy? I don’t know, I think it depends on what’s a sense of normalcy, I think that changes for everyone in some way after this pandemic

As a ticket holder for this race I'm obviously discouraged but still no without hope. I was really hoping for a post 9/11 type atmosphere...
