2020 Supermarket Heroes 500 Pre-Race Thread

A little humor.

5 scheduled cautions and no telling how many more for the race, I think there will be plenty of time to fix snacks during the race

Two competition cautions for TV ad time. What a shame.

The best drivers and race car builders in the country do not need nanny cautions. Just wait for a legit yellow or green flag stops.

Yeah, I gathered that much, but a meme is used to convey some information or message. Unfortunately, using a meme assumes the recipient of your message is already familiar with it. Hard as it may be for some to believe In this internet era, few of them are truly universal. I could post an image of Mr. Spock with a raised eyebrow, but it's meaningless if you've never see the original Star Trek series often enough to understand the context. Quoting 'You're gonna need a bigger boat." doesn't get a message across if you haven't seen 'Jaws' and understand it means you just found you aren't properly prepared for the task you've already started. I've almost stopped using "I'm shocked, SHOCKED..." because I can no longer assume enough people have seen 'Casablanca' to understand the comment is cynical, even hypocritcal.

You chose those images for a specific reason; otherwise you could have used the Grand Canyon or Queen Elizabeth or a flower pot. In this case, I have no context for these two images of ... a monkey in a spacesuit? What were you trying to say?

That's a really long-winded way of saying "I don't get it".

I'm on the fence myself about memes. Some racing forums have banned them altogether, but some are funny, some aren't. Whatever the powers that be decide is fine with me, but Charlie does have a valid point IMO. Some memes junk up the race thread with off topic messages unless you "get it" and even then they might be stupid instead of funny. Most are a bit of a distraction at the least, but some, very few, can get belly laughs.

I'my trying to discipline myself to ignore them unless they directed at me. I figure if someone was replying to me, the least I can do is let them know I didn't get their point, the same way I'd do for a worded response.

Oh I got the original post with the cartoon character, but what if another poster had another meme and after that another poster having another one after that in reply to the first one? It's kinda getting to be a meme contest at times IMO.

There's a guy making a creeped out look. Everything shouldn't have to be spelled out..

Sorry, I didn't perceive the character to be creeped out. I'd never seen the character before and am not familiar with how it looks when it's uncomfortable. Maybe a creeped-out human would have worked better.

Thanks.

Gonna be interesting to see how the well the NASCAR Christmas present for Chevy fares in this lower downforce/high horsepower package. They weren't lights out in Phoenix, but that is a different beast IMO.

Awful early to start cry babying about the Chevy's. They have won two whole races this year. I think Kyle is trying too hard though

Locked and loaded on fantasy lineups ready to roll in the SUNSHINE!

I like the Ford engine here.

It doesn't really look like there's much compound in the bottom groove. Maybe it was the angle they showed.

Yea that's a pretty narrow lane of it they put down. Pockrass was saying earlier on his live Q&A that they are not expecting much grip down there early on.

God we need this so bad......So ready for some bumping and banging

And daytime to boot!

I LOVE watching races for Sunday lunch, for us west coasters this is how NASCAR was meant to be.

BUT......keep them weekday evening races comin!!!

Oop’s car is even unglier sitting sideways on the straight.

Disappointed Harvick didn't get the win in that Hunt Bros Ford. He's never won in cup with them as a sponsor.
